The wife and I went to Longhorn for a nice steak dinner. From the start it seemed to be a bad omen. The staff seated us in a booth that is in the very back of the building, then as we were having our bread and drinks another woman came to the table and said we would have to move because the roof leaks over that booth, and it looks like itâs going to rain! Then the server announced they had no tea bags to make her hot tea request. We dutifully moved one booth away and tried to chalk it up to an un controllable happenstance and vowed to enjoy a great meal, bad assumption, as it proved to be. First, a place that is primarily a steak house does NOT have prime rib, we were left with a choice of beef or chicken. I ordered a rib eye medium rare and the wife ordered chicken strips. We both ordered a loaded baked potato and a greens salad. The salads came and looked very fresh, with a small spot of dressing in one corner. The salad, once we tossed it was pretty good, allowing for nearly a sparsity of dressing. Next the potatoes arrived, they were probably baked around noon and re heated before arriving at our table. They turned out to be the high point of our dinner. My steak arrived and my wife commented âit has a lot of fatâ, to which I said âit needs a little fat marbling to give it its distinct flavorâ. Well the steak was so rare a first year Med student probably could have brought it back to life. The expected marbling turned out to be gristle, it was so rubbery that my serrated steak knife couldnât cut it with all the strength I could muster. The meat was a slight brown on the outside and very red on the inside, which does not offset the fat that was a very nice white color along with the gristle that made up a full one third of the meat and was uneatable. The wife ate one chicken strip and asked for a box. We were expecting to have a nice dinner out that we can only afford rarely, ( no pun intended), and it turned out to be the worst meal on every level, except the iced tea I ordered that washed the taste of fat from my pallet. A very bad meal at a...

Our Waiter Nicholas was on the ball with our drink and food orders. He answered any questions we had as we have never been there before. For the Appetizer I ordered the Shrimp and Lobster Chowder for the both of us. For my main course I ordered the 20oz Outlaw Ribeye Med Well with Mashed Potatoes and a Salad. My wife ordered the 6oz Filet Mignon Med with a Salad. Our friend ordered the appetizer 8 Wings. Nicholas brought out a small loaf of Bread to get us started. Afterwards he delivered our Salads which looked great. Everything on that Salad tasted fresh and they were cold which I loved. Our Soup was delivered next. The Soup was hot, and it was ok but did not have a lot of shrimp or Lobster in it as I thought it should. We asked for Crackers, but they did not carry any because of packaging. We finished our Soup and Salads our main course came out. My Steak looked amazing, and it was. The cook on it was perfect, this steak had a ton of flavor. It was hot and tasty and not a lot of fat on it. My Mashed Potatoes were ok. My wifeâs Filet was done perfect, just like she wanted it. She forgot to order a Sweet Potato for a side. She asks Nicholas if that would be a problem to get one, he stated I will get you one right away. Beforte she was done eating her Filet he brought one out. Now that exceptional service. Nicholas was so polite, and he really cared about the people he was serving. He checked on us a bunch of times but wasnât pesky at all. Since it was my birthday, he brought out a 2 large pieces of cake and 2 scoops of Ice Cream for the entire table to share for Desert. Even the Cake and Ice Cream were very good. I must give this place 5 out of 5 stars because of the exception s service and the great food. I for one canât wait to go back. âââââ Follow Me On FB For More Reviews &...
Read moreIt's amazing that two people sitting at the same table can have such different experiences. First off, my overall experience was adequate. I started with a cup of shrimp and lobster chowder. The chowder had good flavor and a few pieces of tender lobster meat, I don't think that I got any shrimp, though. I also had the mixed greens salad with honey mustard dressing. The dressing was good, and the tomatoes and cucumbers were diced up nicely, but the greens were way too big. I had the 6oz Filet with Mac and cheese for my side. The steak was cooked perfectly, but the mushrooms that were an upcharge came out shriveled up and dry. The Mac and cheese had good flavor but was kind of dry. My dinner companion ordered the 7oz salmon with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts and the mixed greens salad. Her salad, which she ordered without cheese, came with cheese. The cheese was grated and mixed in the salad, so she sent it back. Her entree came out before her replacement salad, so she wasn't happy about that. Her salmon was cooked nicely, and the mashed were good, but the Brussel sprouts were not cooked and so hard that she could barely cut them with the steak knife provided. None of the plates were garnished at all, just a drab looking plate. As anyone in the food industry should know, you eat with your eyes before your mouth. We both had the 3 Don's margaritas, which were very good. Our server was very nice and did her best to make things right, but her inexperience showed through. With a little more attention to detail, this could be a great dining experience, but for now,...
