This place is absolutely amazing. Prontos is sometimes thought of as one of the best kept secrets in north San Diego County. The food here is all prepared fresh daily and sold in a variety of ways. Including take out ready to eat take out ready to freeze and take out ready to serve later. They make some of the most amazing desserts that I have ever seen. Actually they have a salted toffee chocolate chip cookie that is by far and away the cookie dream of a lifetime. They also have a large array of other amazing desserts but if you get there and there is a salted toffee chocolate chip cookie in the display case buy it immediately because you never know you may never have another opportunity to taste this amazing cookie. The sandwiches there are fresh and prepared to order every time I have ever ordered prosciutto there they have sliced it absolutely perfectly thin and placed on deli paper so that you can remove it and let it melt in your mouth when you eat it. They also have soup and a huge variety of other delicious meals some ready to Grab & Go but most prepared fresh when you order. There's also a great variety of salads all creative and all delicious I have heard it said I have lived in this area for 10 years and never heard of this place, like I say the best kept secret in north San...
Read morePronto's Gourmet Market has great soups & sandwiches! My favorite soup here is their Turkey & Sage. Their Bean Soup is good too, as is their Minestrone. They change it up daily, so check the web page to find out which hot soup they'll be serving. Pronto's also has 2 cold soups available each day in portioned containers. Look for them in refrigerated case. I really love their Tuscan Roast Beef Sub. My wife and I split an order of their hand cut Boardwalk Fries- tasty, and plenty for 2 people, for $3.95.
Pronto's make delicious Take-Home dinner-sized dishes. We've tried and like their Chicken Marsala and their Lasagna, packaged in plastic containers. These are good for throwing in the freezer, and heating up on nights you don't feel like cooking.
Pronto's Macaroni Salad is super delicious, comfort food for sure. One bite and you'll be hooked too.
Pronto's make their own pastas, and they can be found inside, in a tall refrigerated case. Pronto's also make a limited selection of cookies and desserts found in a glass case up front. They make their very own beef and chicken stock, sold in quart containers. Pronto's carries some hard to find wines, as well.
All in all, a nice variety of good food can be found here, something to delight any...
Read moreOverpriced sandwiches ($8-$14 give me a break) Sprouts has much better deli sandwiches at half the price. They boast about having a pastry chef make all their deserts, when I know for a fact they just resell costco baked goods at a marked up price. It's a pretty dead giveaway when I noticed they were selling one slice of cake for $6 a piece when I had the exact same cake in my fridge at home that I think was about $16 tops.
Management is very sweet to customers but I've seen them bark at their poor employees like they're subhuman.
If you have the money for their pricey food, do whatever you want. But if you have a soul and compassion about what goes into the making of your lunch, perhaps look elsewhere. Swami's or Senor Grubby's up the street offers much much better food...
