I was excited about this place, but it is a letdown. The images online and visuals in person were the high point of my experience here.
The rolls themselves are decent, but seem to lose their fluffiness quickly. That may be due to the current cold weather.
Specialty items flavors do not match the names. It seems that the rolls themselves are all standard and then topped with themed items. It may make more sense to make custom rolls to better suit the flavors advertised, because a one-size-fits-all cinnamon roll isnt really doing the job.The creme brulee has zero likeness to an actual creme brulee. There was no caramelized, crunchy sugar on it. Instead, it was basically cream cheese icing with berry sauce on top. Call it a fruit cake or raspberry cheesecake and then you'd be closer to home, but it's miles from a true adaptation to a creme brulee. Look to Rise's specialty donut for inspiration. The blueberry pie reminded me more of oatmeal than pie as there were no chunks of pie crust anywhere but there were oats all over the place. The sauce on this roll was rather plain as well, and the only hint of any blueberry was in the 1/4 cup of decent at best blueberries on top. The icings, cookie dough, chocolate sauce, and pretty much any concoction are all entirely too sweet and lack any savory/unami notes. Dont get me wrong, I expect a dessert shop to serve sweet food, but the single most prominent dimension of flavor to the items I tried is sugar. Other flavor profiles seem to be largely absent, and that's a shame. The best word to describe the result would be unimaginative.
My message to the owners is simple. Step your game up. You're on the right track, but all of the items can better executed, especially at the prices you're charging. Look elsewhere for inspiration, and try to stay true to the flavors you're advertising. Right now this shop is completely missing the mark as it stands. I truly believe that the only reason why the reviews are mostly positive is due to the vegan hype train surrounding a new plant based establishment in this area. Dont make the mistake of misinterpreting that as true indicator of high quality, or you'll continue to fall short on...
Read moreThe place is nice enough but I'm kinda shocked I didn't notice it was all vegan and dairy free and what not. It's extremely unobvious somehow.
It left me feeling like the whole objective of the product and it's presentation was for me to have some surprise moment where I exclaim "wow! This is vegan?! I had no idea!" but it definitely was more like me immediately wondering what is this because it's not the real thing.
The second I bit into it I knew something was up. I never understand the concept of pretending something is cream cheese icing and it's not cream cheese icing...like just call it something else. I don't eat sweets often and cream cheese icing is my favorite and it's such a letdown to bite into whatever vegan cream cheese icing is. Also weird that they list toppings like oreos when obviously whatever they have isn't oreos. I get that it's become sononomous with a specific expectation but I'm surprised nabsico doesn't intervene.
Anyway, I don't want to be too harsh because I feel like if I was vegan it'd probably be pretty solid but for someone who was looking for the real thing and never felt informed that it was a pretend cinnamon roll it...
Read moreWe are in town from Indiana and decided to give this place a try as our 7 year old loves cinnamon rolls. We got 4 rolls and it cost us just over $29. Pricing isn't terrible in my opinion. Old Skool - roll is good, a simple cinnamon roll Cookie Jar - roll was good, had Oreos and cookie pieces on it, could've used more Cookie Monster - very little cookie dough on it, was kind of disappointed. The chocolate syrup was pooled to one side so basically you got it on one bite. plenty of chocolate chips Maple Pecan - this is where it gets bad. I'm not sure if it's maple extract used on this roll but the maple flavor was so bad it tasted like pure alcohol. Horrendous flavor. Plenty of pecans but unfortunately we couldn't eat this roll and threw it away after one bite.
Overall, plenty of icing on the rolls, could have more toppings on the cookie ones, absolutely do not recommend the maple pecan. The young lady that took our order was very quiet but she was polite and...
