Chatham Street Wine Market — Restaurant in Cary

I almost gave 3 stars because the service and atmosphere were just plain flat. The service is so important for me and what I love most about my little town! First off I’m a big fan of downtown cary and all things local. First time entering this wine shop weeks ago, I wasn’t greeted, 0 smiles, and was all sorts of confused about seating - I felt so unwelcome that I just kept to the front not even seeing the back seating area and left fairly quickly. I then had someone tell me how much fun they had on a Thursday free wine tasting - they said they had generous pours of wine and a really good time! So I came back with my boyfriend just yesterday to give it ago. Again, no smiles or greetings. When I walked up to the small window where the wine tasting sign was I asked in a super friendly way, still setting up? Is this where the wine tasting is? Just got a yes and that’s it. Flat. Felt super welcomed after that.... came out and there were 4 people doing the tasting. She poured teeny tiny amounts in our glass, didn’t explain anything, and it felt super awkward. we ended up just picking out a couple of really well priced bottles of wine from the shelves and headed home. The main checkout person was ok but again no smiles or light conversation or even a “is this your first time here?” I had to ask about the details and what they offered and I had to pull it out of him just a bit at first :/. 4 stars are for the excellent location, selection, and pricing. -1 for the staff, service, and unfriendly...
