Loved my trip to Angie's. I am from out of town and the idea of a place that specializes in both Mexican and Italian intrigued me. Needless to say, Angie's did an excellent job at both!
I ordered the chimichanga and my sister got the chicken parmesan. The chicken in the chimi was juicy and flavorful and the green chili sauce seemed homemade--one of the best chimichangas I've had in a while. My sister said the marinara sauce was very flavorful and her meal was delicious. We finished with nice, hot sopapillas and honey.
I specifically want to point out the atmosphere of this cozy place. The colors are warm with big red booths and a lot of nice antique wood. The walls are paneled with what seem to be antique hotel doors and shelves featuring a collection of antique rodeos. It all blends together really nice and our booth felt pretty cozy and quiet despite how busy they were.
There were options for gluten-free pasta and the staff were more than willing to work around my tomato allergy. I have a feeling they would have been happy to make more changes to our meal if we had needed them.
All the staff that we met were friendly, nice, and excellent servers. Our gal always seemed to be there right we needed something, and the hostesses were helpful in getting me and my service dog into a booth that would suit us. The staff all seemed in good moods and appeared to work together well. It seems like a fun restaurant to work at.
We went around 5pm and there was no wait, but nearly every booth was full. That didn't impede on our experience all as our food was delivered quickly and the booths and dividers kept things quiet.
I only tend to give 5 stars when I have a particularly awesome experience and I definitely did. If I am in town again I will not...

Regardless...
I loved Angie's. I found the food delicious. Ok, it's not haute cuisine but I hardly went there for that. I wanted a good italian meal and was very pleasantly surprised.
I had spaghetti and meat balls. Their gimmick is to offer several types of long stringie pasta (spaghetti, linguini etc.) either meat balls or sausage and either spaghetti sauce or marinara sauce. You assemble the combination that pleases your pallet.
The portion was just the tinniest bit more than I could eat. The flavor was great for both meatballs and sauce (I had the marinara). I had minestrone soup for a starter and I really liked that. It was delicious. My experience with the bread was good. It was well baked through, had that thin crust and tasted excellent.
The staff was very polite and helpful. Used dishes were bussed off the table in short order, my iced tea was never allowed to slip to less than half full.
Being into radio I was delighted by the very large collection of old style tube radios that adorned the walls. There were many, many radios in beautiful wooden cabinets to "portable jobs" that would have been at home on the beaches of the 1950's. WAY BACK WHEN, I imagine I might have listened to a similar model to one of those shown while keeping up with 50s radio fare. There is nothing fancy in this place but I enjoyed it none the less. I am very happy to have found a good italian restaurant in downtown...
Read moreThis is a cute restaurant. I was hesitant because reviews were 50/50. The staff are very nice. Lots of booth space. They serve Italian and Mexican food. Our waitress didn’t say much about the Mexican food but talked up the Italian food that they make their own noodles and own sauce. They offer a half plate and full plate. They say if you get a full plate you will take some home. I felt like the full plate was a little bigger than a child’s serving. The noodles were thick and nothing special. They give you a choice between marinara or house sauce. The house sauce was bland and didn’t have much taste or flavor. I also got two meatballs. They were not homemade. They tasted like heated up frozen meatballs with no taste as well. Tasted like processed hamburger meat, soggy from defrosting and no spice or flavor. The iced tea was okay but very light. I’m used to a very strong iced tea. The side salad was okay but extremely small even for a side salad. If they push the Italian food and that was my experience, I can only imagine what the Mexican food tasted like. It is all street parking. They offer desserts but nothing sugar free for diabetics. They bring warm bread to table but no butter. The ambiance was nice. If you want somewhere to go to chat for coffee, something light or dessert and not that hungry or not caring how good food is, this might be the place for you. Food alone I would give a two. Ambiance and friendly staff took to a 3. Spaghetti was so tasteless, I really struggled giving it a one, but the side salad and mozzarella sticks were okay. The bread was okay and may have tasted better...
