Food was pretty good. But the service was garbage. The strategy of all servers take care of all tables together is a terrible concept. When you apply this tactic. The servers automatically assume that the next open person will take care of the customer. Well when everone is in the weeds, its easy to neglect a customer. And let me tell you, my experience today was the perfect example of why this practice always fails. Keep the tables in rotation. Its not hard. I sat down for 20 mins before I got a drink order. Got my coffee. Then it was another 20 mins to order my food. I was never offered a refill on my coffee. I had to walk to the servers station to get more coffee. After about 30 minutes i received my food.

I'll say the food was surprisingly good, compared to the service. Honestly they were not super busy. 70% capacity with 3 servers, only one server actually knowing what she's doing. The other 2 were lost.

So I get my food and it was great. I finish the plate in 15 minutes. I stacked all the dishes and flat wear on the opposite outside corner of the table, signaling I was finished with my meal.

I literally sat there watching servers walk past me for the next 15 minutes. Finally the super skinny lady that stays in the weeds even with one table, came by and took the used dishes and asked me if I needed anything else. I told her I was ready for my bill please. She said she'd be right back.

So I sit some more. I watch her stomp by me, (because this lady doesn't walk, she stomps and is extremely aggressive) she's the one who brought me my coffee. Lol it was a half full mug. When she set it down. She was in such a rush, whenever she went to pull away she was still gripping the mug. Coffee spilled all over my table. Leaving about 40% of a full mug. She just yells at the mug. "(COFFEE STAY!) storms off.

So yeah, I asked this high strung coffee lady for my check when she clears my table.

So I sit and wait, then I wait some more, and wait some more. Honestly I could have walked out 3 times in a row without paying my bill. The coffee lady literally had 2 tables. By this time the dining room and porch was a dead zone. Yet this lady remained in the weeds.

I finally got up and went to the register to pay my bill.

Left a 9 dollar tip on a 22 dollar meal. Yep 22 bucks for breakfast for one person.

Atleast the lady that cashed me out was nice. She was the one that took my order.

Good food. But the rest was an absolute sh*t show. And that lady that I spoke about needs to slow down a few paces. That uneven energy ruins the atmosphere. It went from a cool looking Cafe to walking in and being thrown into a Charlie brown scuffle!

I want to eat here again but my next order will Definitely be for takeout.

Annie's was recommended to us by some locals. We usually love places like this and to be clear, the food was excellent.

Unfortunately, there were a few things that made our experience less than ideal. We get it: it's island time, and we weren't in a rush. But our entire visit lasted over 90 minutes for six people. We got one cup of coffee because there was one coffee pot and it was very busy. Our waitress's explanation was "there is only one coffee pot and new guests get fresh coffee first." How does a breakfast place only have one coffee pot with upwards of 100 guests? Meanwhile, outside, there were four new table/umbrella sets with very expensive chairs. My suggestion would be invest in another coffee maker.

Also, I don't necessarily care if the service is slow, but the server should at least be NICE. Our waitress was explicitly rude to our table-- and she wasn't even a good server! My suggestion would be to respect your customers and keep their coffee warm. All else could be forgiven.

Finally, if you can't keep up with the crowd, don't allow people to seat themselves. Serve what you can serve, and make everyone else wait. Over 90 minutes for six people is unacceptable. One person in my party got their food 15 minutes before the rest of the table. Not ok.

Would we come back? Maybe. But we would really like to see some...

My husband and I tried to have breakfast there. It was a little busy. but not overly busy but right when we entered there was no one to greet us. Eventually some lady yelled across the room to seat ourselves. We eventually found an empty table that wasn't dirty. A woman came by and tossed menus and silverware down.😳Rude! Eventually took our drink order, we both wanted coffee and water. She brought one coffee and one water. We told her again the correct order. No apology and she still never brought the other drinks. She finally took our food order, and again, I asked for the coffee. Waited 20 mins, never came by with the missing drinks...finally we just decided to leave. We left $ for my husbands coffee and walked out. I cant believe this place has such high ratings. There was no management presence and it is run so poorly with rude staff. I feel sorry for the owner, who must not be aware or just doesn't care that the restaurant is in chaos. Sad, because it could be...

Do you want to enjoy the absolute best breakfast or lunch in Cedar Key? If so, Annie’s is the place you should try. This was our fourth year to visit the island and Annie’s is our go to restaurant. This year we ate lunch here six times over our three week stay and five of those times I had soft shell crab sandwiches. They are the bomb. They also make the best homemade soups such as their chicken vegetable soup. Best yet is their service. Everyone is friendly and they appreciate your business. I recommend that you sit at the long table and talk to all the other customers that are sitting there as well. You can also bring your dog with you and have your food on the covered patio. We look forward to our next trip to Cedar Key and I can assure you that we’ll be eating at Annie’s.

We enjoyed a made-to-order breakfast and it didn't cost much. My bargain-hunting friends will love hearing about this place. The waitress was friendly and told us all about the cafe. The cozy dining room used to be a dance hall and the cook preparing our meal was Annie's granddaughter. One of Florida's governors from way back frequented the place and his framed portrait appears on the wall. We loved the stories as much as the food. The biscuits were my favorite but the eggs with both grits and potatoes were yummy too. We loved the casual friendly vibe in Annie's and it won't be long until we come back to experience it again.
