Great service. Some dishes are really great.
I came here a few times before the pandemic and it was ok but has upped its game. It is surrounded by ratty businesses and doesn't look so savory from the outside. Inside, they've created a more pleasant space with upscale furnishings.
The service was attentive and patient. I was looking for a specific dish that has had flat sections of vermicelli. Commonly, it is wrapped in lettuce and rice paper. When I was not sure that we were talking about the same thing, he pulled out his phone and showed me a picture.
The Banh Hoi was delicious. There were generous portions of vegetables for the wrap. The pork was flavorful but more refined in its portion. The fish sauce was tasty, neither bland nor as bold as some of the other places. Again, the server was very helpful and explained how to dip the rice paper and use it as a wrap.
I went back to try some other dishes and got the short ribs in chili sauce. They were dry little knots of meat on tiny little bones. It didn't occur to me until afterwards, but I don't know what animal has those size ribs. When I ordered I was thinking of the typical Vietnamese beef short ribs that are family sliced. These ribs had tiny little bones that were smaller than a pencil. I was busy going through my usual quandary of how you eat ribs with chopsticks and didn't really think about what animal this was until later. Anyway, the vegetables were fresh and the sauce was tasty.
Additionally, this place was quite affordable. I've avoided it, because it wasn't a great experience in the past. I don't know that I really agree with the Michelin star but some of this is really excellent and a great deal...
Read moreAbsolutely Terrible!! Came here for lunch with my dad. Ordered the Wok dish with beef. Was supposed to be made with a Satay sauce and peppers. They brought out a dish with a bunch of mixed veggies in a brown soy sauce ( literally exactly what my dad had ordered but like they added pineapple). I notify the waitress that this is not what I ordered. I ordered beef with peppers in a satay sauce. She points--yes Points to the few peppers that are mixed in with all the other items and says-- Yes, there are peppers in there. I say, I ordered peppers with satay sauce--not the mixed vegetable dish. This also is not Satay sauce. This is not a peanut sauce". She responds that she doesn't know what satay sause is." Which is a crazy comment for a Vietnamese person to make in a Vietnamese restaurant. I said, " it's a peanut based sauce ma'am with coconut milk, chilli, etc. She again says that she doesn't know what satay sauce is that she doesn't know what is in Satay sauce. I went on and paid for the meal; didn't eat it (because I dont even know where the ingredients came from--looked like they combined a few things from leftover dishes and put it on the plate) and got my dad's meal to go and we left. He said that his food was ok but he wouldn't eat their again. Won't be back--Bad service and they are using what seems to be LEFTOVER food or to-go food thst wasnt picked up to make customers' dishes. Definitely will let people know not to eat here. Only positve--the restaurant seemed to be clean. At least the part that...
Read moreThis delicious family friendly restaurant rivals any bougie'er Vietnamese restaurant in the 'burbs! The food is fresh, flavorful, wholesome and tasty. The menu was so expansive and overwhelming with choices that I asked a friend to order for me and we had a group meal where we shared everything. It was a fun and fabulous experience! But I have no idea what the items were called. The service is very friendly. We had a baby in a high chair at our table and she got food on the floor. When we tried to clean up, the waitress stopped us, and lovingly told us she had a baby too at one time. It was a very sweet response to the mess. The place got really crowded really early on in the evening because we sat down right at 5:30 on a Saturday, and half the restaurant was empty, but by six it looked like it does in the pic! The service stayed consistent and prompt even with the crowd. Every staff member was helpful and kind. The parking lot is tight and sketchy. Be very aware of both questionable pedestrians and unevenly designated parking. It's on an oddly shaped piece of property so there's not much they can do. Just a heads up to be cautious both walking to and maneuvering...
