Burrito King — Restaurant in Champaign

I want this place to succeed. The food is fine, nothing spectacular but it's consistently good. It's in a good spot. The staff are helpful and friendly. They're generous with meat and rice, which is always nice. Their steak option is great. Their chicken is great.

But, there are some places where it falls. The smaller issue is that the white rice option is a weird off color, like a yellow tinted sheen. It's not bad or anything, but it looks unappetizing. This is backed up by staff comments on white vs Mexican rice popularity. I WANT white rice, but something about off white-yellow triggers alarms in my brain. I know it's not sickly, but it doesn't look great.

The much larger deal breaker is the tipping. When paying for the meal, which is somewhere around $10-12 for a burrito, it pulls up the dreaded tip menu; 25%, 22%, and 15% I think. This is just an increase in price. I'm not against tipping, but for

Yo I visit these guys on Green St almost every Tuesday for the last 6 years. This place here in Baytowne is same owners so you can expect the same great, fresh food at a wonderful price that won't break the bank.

Baytowne has some food offerings that are not available on Green so if you're in the area and craving that same great downtown flavor, its all here in its glory.

Today was my first time trying Burrito King. I was hesitant because when we walked in there were two older women employees who were stone faced. It was delicious food and you have plenty of options. The man at the counter was patient and friendly while I made my choices. Our cashier was a sweet young lady who made sure we had everything we needed. Both of them along with the food made our experience pleasant. My daughter liked it ,so hopefully we’ll get a chance...
