I thought I would wait a day to see how I felt about our recent visit to see if the experience still bothered me. So yeah this is gonna be a long one.
We used the drive thru and as we were pulling away we checked our bag and noticed we were missing a sandwich. I doubled checked the receipt and saw we were charged for 5, the bag only had 4. So I parked and went inside and I informed an employee that we were missing a sandwich.Showed him the receipt. He walked away and told the manager and she came over and in huff emptied the bag counting all the sandwiches (4) then said, "I put 5 sandwiches in that bag" all while smacking gum in her mouth (very unprofessional)
I informed her that there were only 4 sandwiches in the bag. And just looked at her.
Then she rolled her eyes and huffed and walked away.
Now I'm standing there thinking to myself as she's walking away, what's going here? Am I getting our missing sandwich or not? Does she really think I am trying to scam them out of a sandwich? Why not come out and call me a thief?
I'm standing there watching her walk away I'm looking at the food prep area and noticed the employees we're too busy clowning around, laughing joking making weird Noises like they were mocking a mentally challenged person. Not that they were mocking anyone, they were justing acting like they were mentally challenged. Again very unprofessional. Not wearing hairnets over their excessively long hair to note another issue.
Anyway, I digress. So the "manager" gets down to the other end of the prep area by the registers, stands there for a minute then glances back at me and notices me just standing at the other end just looking at her. Then with another huff and snapping up a pair of gloves she grabbed a piece of Italian bread, and appeared like she was making a sandwich.
Whew 😥, i guess she realized I wasn't leaving without my missing sandwich. About 5 minutes pass and she takes her time walking back down to the my end of the counter, then puts the sandwich in the bag and TOSS SLIDES the bag in my direction and walks away.
In the end mistakes happen. Own the mistake and remedy it. Next time, if there is a next time, we utilize the drive thru we're not pulling away until we check everything right there in front of the employee. Then they can't imply your trying stealing an...
Read more8-19-24 diarrhea since yesterday. Rotten egg belches since right after eating the fish sandwhich. 🤢👎
8-17-24 Way over-hyped and over-priced. "Move along, folks. There's nothing special to see here!"
Took my family for supper. $65 bought us 1 beer, 1 small soda, 2 waters, a cheeseburger, a "classic bowl?", a 6 pc strip, a fish sandwhich, 2 small fry, and 1 large fry. Over half $50 for a crappy small meal for 4 people! Had always heard the fish sandwiches were huge and delicious. My wife had a "classic bowl". One son had a 6 pc. strip, and one had a cheese burger meal. The burger got a good review. The "classic bowl" was just a bowl of italian beef meat no gardeneria veg, no cheese, just a soupy bowl of meat.(she didn't feel this was fairly represented when she was ordering). Chicken strips were priced at almost $9/6pc. and weren't any bigger or better tasting(had a dirty/old fryer oil taste) than the Chester's (actually said he'd rather have had them)you get from a truck stop. The fish sandwich was deconstructed in the box before it got served. Just an absolute mess. Small fish portion, huge lettuce portion and tartar sauce all over the top of the top bun and the box, but not on my fish. Had "rotten egg belches" since about 3 hours after, so I'm guessing there were some time and temperature regulations being overlooked. Staff was curt and stand-offish. Not friendly or open or inviting in any way. Definitely didn't feel welcome or appreciated as a customer. More like an annoyance. I've had VERY different experiences at other locations. The staff in the Champaign store seemed resentful toward us. We won't be back to this store again, and we may just write off this whole brand as just another expense that's...
Read moreFirst time at a Portillio’s and was exciting to go and try the food. However, the food here was nothing spectacular. We ordered a couple of bacon cheeseburgers with fries, a hot dog, and soda’s. Walking into the establishment was quite nice. There are many things to look at and has a rather unique set up compared to most fast food restaurants. This led me to believe the food would be quite the treat. While ordering, the cashier looked as if she did not want to be there and had an attitude to match. Additionally, once we received our food which was brought to us at our table by another worker (which was pretty cool), most of our order was wrong . Wasn’t a big deal as this happens from time to time, but when we went to resolve the mishap, the worker behind the counter also appeared as if she did not want to be there. Unfortunately, the food was lacking major taste. While there was a generous amount of bacon on our burgers, there was absolutely no seasoning or flavor to the patty and the government cheese was less than satisfactory. Had the meat have been juicy, the seasoning may not have been needed. In this case, a little salt and pepper could have went a long way. The hotdog was okay. It reminded me of a wiener schnitzel with the taste, but it was not bad. My wife enjoyed the fries, I on the other hand am not a huge fan of crinkle cut fries (personal preference) and probably would not have been able to eat them without the added salt and cheese sauce. I am going to go back at a later date and try something different. This may have been a fluke or it may have not been, but I am willing to give it another chance to find out. Will...
