Grimaldi's Pizza is located on Ray Road and priest in the Paloma Shopping Center. It's got very nice decor inside and out. There is room to sit outside. They have about eight to 10 tables and you can look at the fountain at the same time. It's very nice during a cool Arizona night to sit outside. This is an upscale shopping area that also has a AJ's and Pei Wei's and Alta. Grimaldi's Pizza was delicious. It was mostly thin crust. I thought it was somewhat overpriced. Especially when a personal Pizza is $10 and only has four pieces and you also have to buy each topping separate. Some toppings cost all the way to $4. I got a personal pan pizza for $10 and then I had to add $2 for mushrooms and $2 for anchovies. The anchovies were the strongest anchovies I've ever tasted in my life and I had to take most of them off because it totally dominated the pizza. They did not put that many mushrooms on unfortunately. I told them that I wanted a lot of sauce. The waiter immediattely asked if I wanted extra sauce and I knew he was going to charge another extra $2 but I didn't want to pay for more so I said why should I have to pay for more sauce. it should already come moist. My pizza did come with sauce but I refused to pay $2 for extra sauce. I have never in my life heard of a place charging for extra sauce on a pizza when it should already come with plenty of sauce. My other friend got a white pizza and it was very dried out and did not taste good at all so she returned it and they did take it off her bill. We went last week for our friends birthday party. I think the.pizzas are delicious but I think they're too high-priced. They are wood fired so they have that burnt woody taste that is just delicious. The topping should be a dollar each or $0.75 like most places. I mean you can go to Fired Pie 2 miles away and get 11 inch pizza for $8 with any topping you want. Grimaldis.had delicious desserts. I don't think the wait staff had that much customer service. They were hidden most of the times. The waiter wasn't available and I didn't even see him at all and then towards the end he came around a little more when we started to complain that he wasn't paying attention to us. He's just a young kid though,...a 20 year old boy so I don't know if they've ever trained him in customer service. I actually had to bus the entire table all night by myself because I wasn't going to sit in the dirt and leftovers all over the tables after 20 people had eaten. I just stacked the dirty dishes on the table next to us. I also took some of the other used Pizza dishes back to where they were making the pizzas and they yelled at me and said don't leave these here and I so I said well you come and get them off the tables and put them where you want them. So in spite of the high prices and the bad customer service , the pizzas and salads were delicious and the ambience pleasant. All in all it's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't...
Read moreI want to give this location 2 stars because at least the pizza was good, as per usual with Grimaldi's. However, the service was so bad that I can't even give it two stars. I highly recommend people go to a different Grimaldi's! First off, they shut down the wait-list due to too many reservations and large groups when I tried to call in on a Wednesday evening. We were okay waiting for a table for 3, so we went to the restaurant and waited at the bar till a table opened up. Bartender was good and we were not upset at waiting for a table since we expected it. However, after placing our order once we were sat, it took over 45 minutes till we got our pizza. That is unacceptable. Not only that, but our waitress did not check on us even once in that time frame. She didn't refill our waters or ask if we wanted another beer. In fact, she didn't ever ask to refill our waters once all night and I had to ask the waitress serving the area next to us. She did not apologize for the long wait for the pizza or better yet, forewarn us they were running way behind. We would not have been that upset if we were made aware of the kitchen backup. I know lots of places have staff shortages now, but if you're so busy that you have to shut down your wait-list to deter people, you should also shutdown your online ordering. I cannot tell you how many online orders I saw get boxed up and picked up while we waited for almost an hour for our food. Dine in orders should absolutely get prioritized over online orders in the kitchen. I will not ever return to this location. Poorly managed and...
Read moreI'm usually not one to leave a bad review but our waitress was so disappointing that I have to. My elderly mother and I drove from Tucson to Phoenix for Grimaldi's for her birthday because Grimaldi's is her favorite pizzeria. We usually go to the Grimaldi's located in Scottsdale but this location was more convenient. We arrived around 12:30pm for lunch on a Saturday. The first half of the service was ok (kind of difficult to mess up, "what would you like to drink" and "what would you like to order"). We had gotten refills of our drinks and the waitress failed to remove the empty glasses after passing our table several times. As the waitress was passing our table to get to another table I asked her to please remove the empty glasses. She did not acknowledge me and did not say anything but as she passed again she did remove the empty glasses that were crowding the table. My mother inquired about a possible complimentary dessert for her birthday and the waitress laughed in my mother's face then said no. The waitress's attitude and poor service overshadowed the quality of the food. I believe the waitress's name was Brianna. I've worked at a five star hotel restaurant so maybe I notice these details more than others might. My mother and I expected a higher quality of service based on our experiences with Grimaldi's in the past. Maybe the waitress was having a bad day but that is no excuse to pass her negativity onto the customer, especially on...
