The food was good and the service started off good until after the bill came. I have no problem paying for services rendered, but in this case I was charged a service charge for something that the restaurant was not able to accommodate us for. In retrospect it was not a good look for me and a lot of time wasted. Initially three family members arrived at the restaurant about 20 minutes ahead of me and my family, another came by herself, and then came two others 25-30 minutes later. There were a total of 10 people arriving at different times. The 1st on the scene asked if they could seat 10 of us at a table together. The hostess said that they were not able to seat us inside together, but tables were available outside on a first come basis and others would be sitting out there with us. So when I got there I told the hostess that me and my group of 4 wanted to sit outside with no mention of a party of 10. She looked at her board to see where she needed to seat us based on what server was next and took us to the only table outside piled with dirty dishes. I asked if she could move us to another table with an umbrella and was closer to family and she said let me check, and came back and said it was fine. My husband went to wash his hands and saw them putting 4-5 tables together and asked if we could see if they could now accommodate us because it was hot and their outside fan was not operating. I told him that it was okay because they already told us that they could not accommodate us for a party of 10. Meanwhile, the other 2 family members showed up about 25-30 after us and sat at another table outside close to us. Fast forward, three DIFFERENT tables get a bill with a 20% service charge. I talked to the manager and explained to him that we weren’t seated as a party because they weren’t able to accommodate us as such. We all arrived at very different times and therefore should not be charged the service charge. He tells me it is mandatory and he can’t take it off. I told him that I wasn’t paying the service charge, but I would leave a tip. I told the waitress what to charge to my card and instead she ran my card for the full amount and told me to sign. I told her that it wasn’t going to go through because of what I authorized it for which was the cost of our food, drinks, tax, a tip, and wrote the amount for her. So she so rudely told me that I better come up with another method of payment. I told her that I already had a conversation with her manager, so she started laughing and walked away. After about 10 minutes the manager comes out and asked if the service was good and I said initially yes, but I am not paying this huge service fee which technically is not the same as a tip of which he was trying to imply that it was. The party of three had already given her a $10 tip before realizing that her card was already swiped with a 20% service charge. She let the manager know, but he did not refund the service charge. After a lot of back and forth from everyone he ran my card for no more than what I authorized. I really wished it had not gone this route especially in front of my children because I have never tried to get out of paying a bill when there is a service fee for a large party, but being seated in close proximity of each other is not the same as seated together. This is just another way for this restaurant to use a loophole to get more money. They expect us to compensate servers a large hourly wage, meanwhile they get away with compensating them a little...

Read morePatronized this faculty again on 9/3 and it was my worse restaurant experience. Other patrons were out there and it wasn’t really packed in a week evening We wanted to sit outside and was shown a table; however we requested a table on the side by the water. The young lady said she’ll check if and get back to us. She never came back so we seated ourselves at the table we wanted. The male waiter in that area kept attending to his other customers but eventually came over to us and we asked him to please adjust the umbrella. He said he is new & doesn’t know how to do so We asked two other workers to no avail He eventually came over, took our drink order for margaritas and brought them in about 10min He dropped them off and walked away therefore I didn’t get to tell him that I did not ask for sugar (or salt) rim because I didn’t want either. I called him back & place the Appetizer order Upon bringing that to the table, we asked for 2 plates which we received when we were almost done with the appetizer. We ordered grilled shrimp tacos which the pic showed 3 and a young lady subsequently delivered 2 cold grilled tacos to each of us The waiter later dropped two bills on the table and walked away. I called him back to let him know it’s one bill. I subsequently wrote on the bill that no tip because the service was poor; however the next day I reviewed my credit card and HE HAD ADDED A 20% TIP I went back the following day and got a refund of the $13+ tip.
** The audacity of this male waiter to think that he deserved the courtesy of a tip when he never asked if we were OK, never asked if we wanted additional drinks, never asked if we wanted additional food, never asked if we wanted dessert, never asked if it’s 1 bill or separate bills, never asked if I wanted salt or sugar rim, never asked if we wanted 2 or 3 tacos, just simply NEVER extended any courtesy? However, what he did was sit at the table to the right of us which had three men of his persuasion. He refilled some glasses & attended to all other patrons around us. We don’t know if just us selecting the table was the reason for this dis-courteousness because we never did anything else. To all servers: Tip is a courtesy. If you extend such, I will respond in kind and because my daughter was a server in college, I always give a...
