Went to Duckworth’s tonight after several locals told me it was a good place to eat. I sat at the bar (with more TV screens in one room then I think I’ve ever seen, but they were, oddly, not in the least distracting), and ordered a local Charlotte beer (Better Days Pale Ale- delicious, floral, aromatic and crisp). The staff were wonderful. They were all incredibly attentive, polite, never hovering, but always checked in. They served me quickly, efficiently, and professionally. I was impressed with their overall attitude, attention, and friendliness. For food I ordered an 8oz center cut sirloin, med-rare. The entrees come with two sides and garlic bread, so I chose tater tots, and a salad with ranch dressing. The side salad was fresh, cold and crisp. It included red onion slices, which I love. The dressing was very good - a classic, thick and flavorful ranch (not the watery, thin and light flavor kind that some places have). The tater tots were absolutely fantastic. Golden crispy outside, and soft, almost melt in your mouth inside. They didn’t taste like they were previously frozen, and tasted fresh and delicious. I could have eaten those all night. The steak, however, was disappointing. The cut of meat was good quality, and the char-grilled style was smoky and flavorful. It was perfectly seasoned. But it wasn’t cooked properly and was totally dry. Now, having grilled steaks and a substantial amount of meat in my life, I know that grilled meats are tricky. They are hard to get right and easy to mess up. A second too long and it’s dry as cardboard. It wasn’t that bad, but as I ordered medium rare, I felt I should have ordered rare instead. The one saving grace to the meat was that it was served with a finger-licking BBQ sauce that I thought was excellent. Not too smoky, not too sweet, not too savory. Truly fantastic BBQ sauce. Overall, I had a nice time by myself, and enjoyed the experience. Next time, I’ll order the Carolina BBQ Plate and will probably rave about it.

Had a great experience at Duckworth’s Grill & Taphouse in Charlotte North Carolina. We went on a Sunday during football season and it was packed but there happened to be two seats at the bar. The service was great and very accommodating. There were two or three people helping us out. We ate the nachos and we had wings. The nachos are huge. I guess I should’ve figured it out because they were $19 but we did a pretty good job eating them. The only thing that was slightly annoying was they asked if we wanted queso and that was a $5 up charge. I know we would have to pay extra for that but that was a little excessive. I also noticed someone else ordered it with sour cream. I wish we were given that option. I completely forgot to ask. They were still delicious and would order them again. We also ordered 10 medium wings. They were pretty spicy for medium. Even though the service was spectacular, they did forget to put our order in and we waited awhile but we were in no hurry. They also have an unbelievable tap list and a pretty good drink menu. They also had $6 bloody Mary’s on Sunday and she asked me if I wanted Tito’s and that ended up being a $3 up charge. Again, I don’t mind so much but they should probably tell you. Definitely loved the experience and will go back for sure!!!

Service was absolutely terrible and food was not great either. Our server, Khadija, didn't greet us until 10 minutes after we sat and said she'd be right with us after dropping off a check. We watched her for another 10 minutes servicing other tables before she finally came back. We literally didn't even have water yet after 20 minutes. We ordered drinks and food all at once because of her. She got water and our drinks 10 minutes later, and our beers were not cold, like they'd been sitting at the expo for quite a bit. We got our food 30 minutes after ordering. Mind you, this was flatbreads, a Philly, and a personal pizza. Things that take 10 minutes max. The restaurant was in no way slammed either, with numerous empty tables. The flatbreads didn't taste great and looked worse. Needed a lot more cheese and the chicken was just lumped in the center. The centers were all flimsy and soft and the crust was hard. It was more like a big cracker rather than a thick flatbread. 6:04 we were sat, 6:26 we ordered, 6:55 was when we got our food, and she dropped the check at 7:10. We had empty water and beers the whole time, too, and were never offered refills. Felt like our server hated us as she was refilling and paying attention to her other tables. I will never go here again.

The grouper taco isn't Grouper.

Below is my follow up that was also sent via email.

I am responding to the request to email you regarding my review on Google. The fish that was served was not grouper regardless of what was the label says. I am an offshore fisherman who has fished in the Carolinas, Destin Fl, and the Bahamas. Also the price point for Grouper is normally higher. The manager during lunch on Monday did remove it from our tab. I also did not eat both Tacos. He asked me to come back to give them another try.

I am here now.. I was seated promptly, but then sat for another 10 minutes before anyone checked on me. I asked for a manager, he came over and provided decent customer service. I wasn't wowed but wasn't put off either. Mateo has been providing excellent service thus far. He is very knowledgeable about the menu and wants to make sure my experience is better.

Overall the service by Mateo made my visit better. It is important that once seated that someone greets the customer within 5 minutes thats what happens at Steak 48. I just received my bill and my entire lunch wasn't comped. I did pay for the Tator tots, but my entire meal should have been comped when you are trying to win someones business. Overall, I will say that I will not be back to support this resturant. The burger was good. The salad was fresh, as well were the tater tots. Disappointed that the entire meal wasnt comped and please understand its not about the money.

Please source your Grouper from another vendor. The manager should have personally checked on me towards the end of my meal to ensure ny...

Our server was awful…I don’t know that we even ever got his name. First he told me that all of the drafts were $3.95…then he came back and asked us what day it is and said that it wasn’t the right day for all of the drafts to be $3.95. I asked him which ones were (menu says some are $3.95 every day and to ask the server for the list). We never got that answer. My cider was given to a customer at another table, so I had to wait longer to get my drink. When anyone checked on us, we always had to put in additional drink orders with them bc our server wasn’t checking in with us. Our food came out and I was brought regular fries instead of sweet potato fries and my burger was burnt. Luckily my husband’s food was better prepared. Our server didn’t check back in with us after our food arrived, so someone else ended up dealing with my incorrect/inedible meal (and it was too late to wait for something else to be prepared bc we had to be at a concert). When our server finally did check on us, our plates had all been removed by other staff and he actually said, “did you guys want to order some food?” I said, “we did…mine was wrong and burnt and he’s finished his.” He was rude when bringing us our check and the receipts. Total waste of money on this meal/experience! (My burger was comped, which it should’ve been since I couldn’t eat it, but our entire meal should’ve been due to the terrible service we had from...
