Let me start off by saying, I NEVER TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE A BAD REVIEW, so if Iām writing this my experience was pretty awful! This was our 2nd time eating at Joanās, . We came shortly after they opened and ordered food for take out that was absolutely delicious. I went back today and unfortunately the quality of food has declined beyond belief. We knew there would not be sitting available inside so we figured we could go to Dresslers with our food since that was an option offered on their website. Unfortunately there was no one at Dresslers so we had to sit outside and today was pretty chilly and windy. We are a family of 4 and brought a friend who loves Pastrami and really wanted to have a taste of a good old fashioned NY deli. We ordered 3 sandwiches, 2 soups, 2 knishes and 2 sodas and spent over $90. The food was awful, nothing was fresh. If I was just dining with my family I would have absolutely have gone back in and asked for my money back but since we had a guest with us I didnāt want to be a Karen about it at the time. We are a hard working middle class family so to drop down that much $$$ on a lunch that was barely edible is really a hardship for us. The pastrami had a funky, Smokey flavor. Last time I went the women who sliced the meat asked how I liked it sliced, the person today did not ask and we had thick pieces of pastrami that almost had a consistency of cow tongue. The bread was not flavorful and almost tasted like it was also stale. The pickles were soggy and disgusting. The matzoh ball soup wasnāt too bad but I think any hot soup will taste good when you are dining outside in 40 degree weather with 20 mph winds. Last time we went there were 4 different types of knishes and we tried one of each. Today there was just potato and they didnāt taste good, not sure if it was bad seasoning or the fact that they tasted like they had been sitting there for a while. The display case did not look as pictures above in the Google image. Last time we went the display case did look like that. I think today they had a regular cheesecake and a chocolate cheesecake and some Rugelach which looked stale and some of them burnt. I understand we went the Saturday after Thanksgiving but if the establishment could not provide customers with fresh and delicious food this weekend they probably should have waited until next week to re-open. Everything looked and tasted like it had been sitting there for the past 4-5 days prior to Thanksgiving. Unfortunately I will not be returning to Joanās Deli and Bakery. I work too hard for my money to waste it on a lunch like I did today. I went to Trader Joeās after lunch and spent the same amount of money on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat service and conversation. Went for our first visit yesterday afternoon. Ordered two sandwiches: Pastrami/Corned Beef and a Pastrami Reuben. The sandwiches (even the small) are hugh. Everything was prepared with quality. Unfortunately the piece of Pastrami served from yesterday wasnāt our favorite. It was extremely fatty and grisly. I had the half/half sandwich and made a half sandwich meal using just the corned beef. My wifeās Reuben was inedible ā¹ļø. The leaner part of the Pastrami tasted good but you couldnāt enjoy a good bite of it with what we were served. Tried to review using the emailed receipt I received but their system is having some type of issue and I couldnāt complete the review. Iām sure the establishment would have made adjustments had we consumed our lunch near their establishment using the outside tables. We took our sandwiches...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely delicious food first and foremost. The soup tastes like your Bubbie made it from scratch for hours. The knish was also tasty. Corned Beef sandwich was very delicious. The Pastrami sandwich melts in your mouth. I would say I wish it was sliced just like the corned beef instead of in chunks. Babka had a cool flare and they even have dr browns soda. Yummy!!! My only critic is that it was me and my friends first time there. I heard her place her order clearly and twice after mine. They still forget or second knish which she was looking forward to. We drive far to get there and love supporting new, local, small businesses but just wish the service was better. The person who rung us up didnāt seem to really listen but other than that, an overall delicious place to check out for Jewish Style cuisine. A little pricey...
