Fish and Chips- Cod fish was pretty good, the breading had a small kick and came with a spicy mayonnaise based sauce on the side. The fries were amazing, I recommend asking for malt vinegar. Side of Brussels Sprouts- 9/10, very good Pulled Pork Sandwich- Decent taste, but kind of small portion. It does not compare to the pulled pork you would get in Kentucky. Came with sauce, but the meat already had some on it. I prefer the pork to be semi-seasoned and juicy, but to come without sauce because I prefer to add my own. The sauce options were all thicker barbecue sauces, which were decent, however, I prefer a vinegar based sauce (like Starnes, a local brand from Kentucky). Overall- Our waiter was very attentive and he always made sure we had what we needed. The atmosphere was nice, a bit of rowdiness from some patrons at the bar (nothing too much, and a bit of entertainment). At first, we were sat in their outdoor area in a pavilion like structure (on OpenTable we accidentally made the reservation for outside). Once we were out there, we asked to be moved inside (once we realized our mistake) and they graciously let us. As for the outdoor area, it was enclosed besides for the door which was a nice shield from the wind, however, the table and chairs were unbalanced (not their fault, the sidewalk it was placed on was not level). The wait staff was very knowledgeable on the beers they had on tap as well as having recommendations for each menu item. I enjoyed our experience and would recommend...
Read moreI was really excited to try Centennial and left there feeling disappointed and a bit uncomfortable. Honestly I may have had a different experience if I had gone there with other people and sat at a table and not the bar. But I was on a solo adventure in Chicago and really looking forward to having a beer. Maybe chatting with the bartender or other patrons, or just enjoy my beer and a book. When I got there the hostess didn't seem eager to help me and just directed me to the bar. I went for a seat that I believe was between someone who worked there (not sure, but he was working on an iPad and speaking with staff like he worked there) and another person who sounded like a regular. One bartender approached me, offered some suggestions when I asked, and then I had my beer in hand. Meanwhile the person with the iPad was taking over an unnecessary amount of space so I had to sit awkwardly in my chair, and the regular patron was awkwardly flirting with a different bartender. I was really uncomfortable in my barseat and had to sit to the side at an angle and couldn't lean back because it was wobbly. I opted to stand instead but still uncomfortably with the space I was given. I decided not to stay and was ignored by the bartenders when I tried to get their attention to close my bill. I get that they're busy, but not once did they ask me if I wanted anything else or needed anything. All of that said, the beer I...

The decor is rustic with a long wooden bar and a long wooden communal table in the back. The front section has tables and booths for your dining pleasure.
There is also an outdoor eating area in the front of the restaurant that is open weather permitting.
We shared an order of steamed mussels with curried sausage, wittekerke Belgian beer, potato, and baguette, which was $16 and filling enough for two.
The food menu has some interesting choices on it such as Krispy Kreme sausage crepes and the house charcuterie which consists of tasso ham, smoked duck breast, smoked liver sausage, duck prosciutto, and summer sausage.
It was very busy that night and it was impossible to get the bartender's attention, I had to grab a waitress as she was running past me in order to place my order.
A nice casual Eatery you can meet friends at and enjoy different choices of food while you...
