Lips Drag Queen Show Palace, Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Chicago

This is my 4th time here. I personally love the place, however my last experience makes me never want to return. It was just me and my friend, she had never been there before and I always rave about the place and wanted to share the experience with her. First they seat us way in the back and this area was very, very drafty. It’s actually usually closed off with curtains and this was my first time seeing it open. So we waited a while for our waitress but when we realized she wasn’t showing we went to the bar to place our drinks and we both got $50 in singles. We tipped the bartender. Our waitress shows up and she was nice (at first), places our orders. Salad comes out and it’s very dry, very bland. My friend ordered shrimp Alfredo and it’s wayyy overly cooked with no sauce, sticking together, just plain bad! I ordered the steak and fries and even tho I ordered my steak well it came like a brick!! I couldn’t even cut let alone chew it. But we decided we weren’t going to complain because sending food back is frowned upon. So the ladies perform and a great show was had!!! We tipped them very,very well each of them!! And we enjoyed every performance!! And then the bill comes. We ask our waitress to please take off the added gratuity which was about 25-30 because we felt we had tipped enough.. mind you we spent $115 in tips. She starts “reading” us telling us what a gratuity is and we’re like ok but take it off. She pressed the issue and asked were we paying in cash for the gratuity and I explained to her that we had tipped all the ladies and the bartender very well and we would not be paying for anything else. She comes back with the receipt and I really just grabbed it without looking at it and left because the tension was so thick. She follows us as we’re walking out and gives this “thank you” in her deeper voice with a very sarcastic tone. This is by far the worst experience I have had there and I’ve thrown birthday parties there, my bachelorette party was there, I’ve taking two newbies at different times there. I mean come on! I checked my bank statement today and was still charged the gratuity..

When myself & my God sister went it was a beautiful show & I loved the whole experience it was like no show I had seen before it was really spectacular & it was well worth the wait & it was so sophisticated & the atmosphere was just beautiful it was & is the cats meow and it was such a beautiful experience that I still rave ,& marvel at the whole experience it was such a delight & I didn't see a Drag show.What t I saw was a helluva a Marvelous entertainer's who gave a & Understood the assignment of Entertainer's whom til this day I saw people giving me an so Awesome,& darn Entertainer's whom are my Heroes whom made me & my Dear God's is have such an awesome time.Thay Until this Day I just wanted to Honor you all Ladies, Whom I'm I'm so, very proud and honored to have been given such a beautiful experience of a Lifetime which to me Made Darn sure that I had such a beautiful & funky good that. I still have to take off my hat. Too who taught me how to just be me & Love,& respect and 💕 you all the way you all who will always have my my heart & I just feel so honored just to have been blessed to have been such a Helluva Good time & just don't have any disregard to respectfully say that I still admire you all & have nothing but respect for you all thank & always Greatful for you I love you very much & I always rave& brag on u & Miss Victoria than Love 💕💋💗😘 for gracing me too be apart of your world and still Giving you Ladies the most of my Heart how u y'all 💋💖💗💋. Let me first start with the good parts of Lips. The MC was awesome. Very funny, witty and entertaining. The atmosphere as well as the hostesses were good. Now here's the part that everyone need to be extremely aware and cautious of before going here. This was not my first drag show but was definitely the worse. I usually don't write reviews but this required one. It's advertised as $39.95 (plus tax of course) per person which includes a 3-course meal and a 2 hour show. Cool right? NOT. What you get is: -a one salad choice of Cesar salad with old welted lettuce -Sahara Dessert dry chicken -chewy microwave shrimp tomato paste penne pasta that supposed to have chicken but you couldn't find it alfredo sauce with absolutely no flavoring. -Over priced drinks -A 1-hour show with Sub-par performers. They come out, do a little 30 second stage jig then dart out to the audience to get tips. -And a bill that will shock you into a heart attack It was explained to me that a gratuity is charged for a table of 10+ but we had 9 people in our party so why did we have to pay an extra $89. Oh and was told the birthday person will be crowned queen for the night and get a cake for an extra $10. Well it was a paper crown from Burger King and the cake was a Little Debbie chocolate snack cake with a candle. Sooooo very disappointed. Cancel Christmas, New Years, Kwannza, Ramadan, birthdays, etc...
