Stay away from that burger.
I paid $14 for a burger, fries, and a bottle of water. I really feel like there 7oz angus burger is a rip off. While eating my burger, which I had cooked medium well, I tasted no flavor from the meat. There was no seasoning on the patty and the meat itself had no taste. When examining the burger I realized the 7 ounce patty was extremely fatty. The meat had a weak consistency, low density and no taste. I can understand charging a premium price for a high quality burger, 5 Guys, Burger Point, Epic Burger are great examples of places that provide you with dense tasty high quality beef. Steve's Bite is charging a high price for a 60/40 chunk of ground beef. THAT AINT COOL. For all my none foodies, 60/40 ground beef is ground beef that is 60 percent meat and 40 percent fat. Meat of this consistency has no flavor and is often used as filler meat in cheaply manufactured food products like frozen pizza puffs or frozen tamales. 60/40 is not the meat you should use for a burger.
Some of there other items here are decent (3 out of 5 at the most) but overall the high price point and average to low quality of the food is going to be the death of this place.
The gyro is average in taste and small in size and at 7 dollars is overpriced, as 7 dollars is the price without fries. 10 dollars is the price with fries. The dinners and the bowls are meals that don't satisfy, they taste all right but will leave you hungry. The chicken burger taste terrible. I refunded that order when I purchased it a while back. One thing that isn't bad is the hand trimmed chicken tenders. Decent quality and a fair price.
P.S. Make sure you ask for the fries extra crispy if you actually like your...
Read moreOne might describe Steve’s Bite as a hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop, but don’t judge this book by its cover. Though the dining space is small and the shop doesn’t have any particular flash or ambience, I believe they’ve succeeded in what they’ve set out to accomplish. The service was friendly, the kitchen was fast, and the food was worth a quick pit stop for lunch. The menu was appropriately sized and had variety to satisfy most consumers. The food was fairly priced (though I think swapping canned soda for a fountain could add value). I ordered a gyro with fries and a soda. The food was hot - right off the flat top and out of the fryer. The gyro meat was a little crunchy at the edges having been slightly overcooked (personal preference probably) and the tzatziki sauce was solely on one end of the gyro making the second half a little dry. However, I still feel that the experience was a positive one. I can’t give half stars, but if I could, this...
Read moreGreat sandwiches and meals in a small mostly-takeout place with seating for ten or twelve. We walked along Cermak from our hotel, our first night in town, just for an easy-to-find meal. They were friendly and attentive as we chose from the menu over the counter. I wanted my first meal to be Italian Beef, and theirs is flavorful and juicy, made the way you ask, so i got it “wet” with extra juice on the side, with sautéed sweet green peppers, delicious, with a side of piping hot crispy fries. We also had the huge serving of perfectly tender sweet salmon at a reasonable price. We ate in, while most customers seem to come for takeout, and we each had enough leftovers for another meal. Cermak is dark along here in the evening, but it felt busy enough and safe. This is good food at Cermak and Michigan, convenient to hotels and to the McCormick West building, and it’s walkable from the Cermak-Chinatown stop on...
