I am editing my review after my recent experience with the Management. Long story short, They told us they could accommodate special needs in our group, and upon arrival Where not willing to unless we paid them $350. They made a mess of my sons 18th Birthday dinner, So we had to eat elsewhere. We had a great meal at McKenzie River just around the loop. Won't be back to Fuji, even if someone else is paying. I would give them 0 stars if it would let me.
Attended for a special birthday, we had not visited fuji before and relied on online reviews to guide our choice to attend. In my travels I have had the pleasure of grillside seating for a "hibachi masters" performance. The rest of my family has not. The performance was adequate, but significantly restrained from what I have experienced elsewhere. The "assistant", server was unsure about many of the offerings, for example what specific veggies are in the tempura veggies, for your info there is one asparagus sprig, one onion ring, one thin slice of yam, one slice of zucchini, and one mushroom cap, dipped in tempura and fried, artfully arranged on a plate. for $5. She knew nothing of the "sushi" offering that one of our party wished to have instead of the hibachi grill. many "let me check" responses. The menu is very basic as far as explanations go, if you choose to dine, and are unfamiliar with this "food territory, do your homework in advance. Back to the performance, it was like watching Phantom of the opera at a Small community theater as opposed to seeing it performed live at the majestic theater itself. What should I say...not bad for where we are. Let's get to the food. Not bad...The salad was basic bagged iceberg lettuce mix with carrots and purple cabbage, drowned in a dressing my daughter thought looked like vomit....but it was tasty none the less, not other garnishment of any kind. The main courses carefully prepared before our eyes where good. Many "hibachi virgins" in our group where enthralled by the presentation, which was for me a little slow and lackluster...but I certainly enjoyed the time with family. The chef finished dishing the meal in stages as the different entrees finished cooking, The meat was tasty, but don't be socially polite and wait for everyone to receive their entree or yours will be cold. Eat it as you get it. My suggestions, put a lid on the chicken to speed the cooking time, it was started first and served last. The veggies(onion, mushroom, zuchinni, and broccoli could have stood a touch more time on the high heat, even though they where on the grill a long time. And with my steak being first on the grill, first served(by nearly 10 minutes) by the time I got the noodles(last on the grill last served) my meat was cold. The chicken was steaming hot, and the sukiyaki steak(shredded with your allotment of veggies, stir fry style) came in the middle. We of course all shared tastes so we would know what we liked for next time. I thought the chicken was just a touch dry and tough....but still tasty, glazed in a teriyaki sauce. The chef left and allowed us to eat, followed shortly by the server offering take home boxes, then the check, then the grand finale, the grill cleaning after show....while your still eating and visiting this guy comes out with his 5 gallon buckets of water and a large putty knife and begins to scrape the grill for the next 10 minutes...This couldn't wait til we had actually paid the bill and put our food in the take home boxes, Then I opened the bill...Not sure why I was surprised but I was...With the mandatory 18% gratuity the bill was nearly $250, and we all drank water....I've had some pretty amazing meals and some pretty great dinner shows, for a lot less than that. but everyone thought it was pretty cool, so that's why I rated it higher...It wasn't a bad experience, just a few things that made the evening anticlimactic. But I'd go again...especially if someone else was picking up...
Read moreExtremely underwhelming with a rude waitress:
I wish I got the name of our waitress because she was one of the worst waitresses I’ve ever encountered. She must have been in her late 40s or early 50s, and had dark brown hair. I just saw a review commenting about one of the waitresses being rude and I am led to believe she might be the same one because she didn’t offer any of my family members chop sticks.
We came in for a birthday celebration and our excitement was somewhat dimmed by her negativity. She lacked patience in my opinion and hardly smiled but rather acted like we were irritating her with our presence. I thought I was the only one that felt this way about her but our party of 6 agreed about her pathetic service.
The food on the other hand was rather bland and lacked flavor. I got the chicken fried rice and it was the most tasteless food I’ve ever had. The rice was undercooked and the chicken was dry and chewy. The veggies my husband had for the hibachi scallop meal were raw. The chef or whatever he was also threw on his noddles right on top of his rice. The scallops lacked flavor and needed more cook-time in our opinion. On the brighter side, we liked the salad.
There were many other things ordered that would make this review more of an essay but overall it’s not worth the price. Kindly train your waiters/waitresses to wear a smile regardless of what may be going on behind...
Read moreWish I could rate 0. Since I was there to pick up a door dash (food delivery service) order it was made extremely clear that I was not a priority. Waited in line like everyone else there (long line at that) when I got to the counter she didn't even ask who I was picking up for, told me to "get out of the way, stand to the side and someone would eventually be with me" didn't even have the common courtesy to pretend to be polite about it, while she continued to help people who came in after me. To add insult to injury she even took a gentleman's to go order had him take a seat, and he got his food while I was still standing to the side being ignored, (which leads me to believe the order I was supposed to pick up was ready and just sitting out somewhere, great way to show you care about your service, customers, and food quality) other guests there sitting and in line where even looking at her and I like they thought it was wrong. Just cause I'm not the direct customer and not the one tipping does not give staff the right to treat someone poorly. Truthfully I had picked up a to go menu and was going to get food for myself in the next day or so before I leave town but after that treatment I'll never give this place a penny. Straight up I walked out after over 10 min or so of this behavior and will never return, reported it to door dash (who was NOT happy to hear about it) and had them...
