La Fuente Mexican Food — Restaurant in Chula Vista

What a disappointing experience tonight. I have gone to this place once every week or so, and besides the not so friendly cashier, the food has been good. Tonight I ordered the same thing I always order. I asked for a taco salad in a shell. Shredded chicken, no guac. Again, in the shell. I didn't realize this is called a flying saucer, but I was never corrected before. At any rate, it came out, a bowl of chicken (not shredded) with a tiny amount of lettuce in the bottom of the bowl. When I told the gal I had told her I ordered it in the shell, she said that the kitchen asked her what that meant. She has never asked me before, so it just came out as a salad, not in the shell, and again, no lettuce. She asked if I wanted it fixed, and I said yes. So she is talking to the two cooks, who are both yelling. Wish I knew what they were saying, but I finally just said to give it to me. Then she started arguing with me, telling me it's a flying saucer that I want. I told her that she had never corrected me before, so I didn't know. Every other time I have gotten exactly what I wanted, until now. I won't be going back. She was so rude that she has tainted how convenient they are to my location. Oh, well. This place has its ups and downs. Pro's: Food tastes good, Rene's burrito is delicious especially in Californian style. most of the workers are nice.

Cons: small space, awkward layout for tables. overpriced especially addons. 1$ for lettuce? 1$ for everything condiment that should be less or free especially if you are omitting something and replacing it with something cheaper. Lastly, one of the cashiers has an attitude.

sometimes I will request for an item added to my food, pay for it and when i return home it isn't in my order. its cheaper for me not to drive back and complain. this has happened to me several times, so I choose to only come here when I am craving Rene's burrito.

Sad they used to have amazing food but the quality dropped and i feel like the portion size changed smaller on their carne asada fries. Less toppings Thats for sure.

FRIENDLY TIP, for about the same price you can go to El Comal up the hill on 3rd and get better food. or if you want to go cheaper go to Panchos on H st in front of the mall. about the same service but...

If i could I would give this place no starts because they don’t deserve it. I went thru drive through and I asked for #3 and she said combo and I said yes. I had no idea I camI that they had a combo and special. I was asking for the special. I totally understand that I should have asked what was in the combo order but I didn’t. I came back thinking she had given us the wrong order and from the start the same cashier was just rude. Saying it was our fault for confirming the order and I explained to her that I didn’t know there was a combo 3 and a special 3. And she just that was our fault and didn’t even try to help us. I will never be coming here again! And the food was just horrible. And they should really give this lady some classes on how to speak more politely...
