I came in several Monday's ago at 9:30pm to order carry-out. Management should feel embarrassed by the employees they had running the front of the house. Two cooks and a server did nothing but complain about customers for coming in and ordering food the ENTIRE time I was there. When new customers walked in to be seated, the cooks up front mean-mugged them and angrily waved their arms in the air as they walked by and the cook who took my order said, "If one more person orders food, I swear to God I'm going to quit!" He had no problem exclaiming this while accepting my credit card for payment. In hindsight, I SO wish I would've cancelled the order right there and walked out. But I didn't, and instead tried to offer empathy like 'I'm sorry, I didn't know you guys were about to close. The website says kitchen is open until 11pm.' He wouldn't speak directly to me, or even look me in the eye for that matter. He and the woman who was making food with him continued to complain about their job and customers coming in and doing what they should do at a restaurant.
It's been weeks and I'm still upset by disrespect they showed. On one hand, I want to say that I get it -- it's the end of the night, you're tired, and your feet hurt. But ultimately, you're on the job. You represent that company and really you should go work somewhere else if you're that miserable you can't even pretend to keep it together. It was humiliating to watch them make my food while they bitched about doing it. I didn't do anything wrong and don't feel like I should've given my money to a business that treats paying customers like that.
I asked for the man's name when he handed me my food but he mumbled it 3 times so I couldn't understand him. I was too embarrassed to ask for a fourth time.
If MGMT wants to call me about this, I'd be happy to share more details. This bad experience was worth cancelling out all my good ones.
The pizza's good though. And the bartender was...

We typically read reviews before trying a new place, but my husband just said he always wanted to try them and had a good feeling about it. It was around 12pm so it was quiet. Our waitress was nice. Greeted us promptly. We started with an order of fried pickles that were so good, our girls wouldn't share. They were gone in a couple of minutes. We ordered a pepperoni pizza for the girls and we ordered the Mac supreme for us and our son. We asked for some adjustments on the pizza and was informed they accidentally prepared the pizza incorrectly. So to make up for the inconvenience, they offered us the messed up pizza for free and still remade the pizza for us, correctly. One of the cooks came out to speak with my husband and was such a pleasure. He was mentioning how there is love in the food. You can tell, it's definitely made with love at lunch time. As we were leaving, I believe the owner or manager asked if he could make dessert for our kids. He created an apple and blueberry turnover for them (not on the menu) and they loved it. It was too big to eat after all the delicious pizza, but made a nice treat for them this evening. They make you feel like family at this Mac's. It was such a nice change to what we have been experiencing at restaurants lately. This is now our favorite pizza place and I will tell...
Read moreI've tried to give Mac's a chance many many times and I'm always let down. I've only ever been there late night, when they're in "bar mode" and I always get frustrated. The bartenders aren't really trained, they don't know how to serve like a typewriter (go down the bar and reset), they just choose one random spot and keep serving people that come to that spot. So if you pick the wrong spot you won't get served. Move? Then they pick a different spot. It's infuriating. They really just don't know how to treat customers, last week they decided to close at 12 because there wasn't a crazy amount of business, even though their posted hours go until 2:30. They also underpour drinks unless you're friends with that bartender. I don't know of any establishments where a 3 or 4 count (3/4oz or 1oz) are a shot. Finally, most of the customers are "from Illinois" (underage) and there for the night because they've been to Uncle Woody's one too many times in the past week. If you like walking into the bathroom to someone on their knees puking, this is the place for you!
The only redeeming factors (that saved this from being a 1 star review) are: the pizza and other food is... palatable; they usually have some good local craft beer selections (although that doesn't really matter because as mentioned before you can't get service); and their karaoke...
