Fountain Square in Cincinnati is an absolute gem. This iconic public space is the heart and soul of downtown Cincinnati, and it never fails to impress. The square is always buzzing with activity, offering a wide range of events and entertainment throughout the year. Whether it's a sunny day with families enjoying a picnic on the grass or a lively evening with friends gathered around the fountain, there is a palpable sense of joy and camaraderie. In addition to its vibrant ambiance, Fountain Square also boasts excellent amenities. The seating areas are comfortable and plentiful, providing ample space for relaxation and socializing. The free Wi-Fi is a nice touch, allowing visitors to stay connected while enjoying the outdoors. The accessibility of the square is also noteworthy, with ramps and elevators making it easy for everyone to enjoy.

I truly tried to email & handle with other communication to avoid negative reviews but I have yet to have a response. We dined here and were having a pleasant time until a staff member accidentally bumped a martini off a tray and over my head. Genuinely, accidents happen and I understand that but I was soaked through my hair, blazer and dress down to my back. I was freezing and dripping wet and very little acknowledgement of the situation happened by any staff member in a timely manner. Instead of acknowledging that I was sitting there dripping wet the waitress went to the bar to request a replacement martini for her guest. I sat dripping, embarrassed and soaked for at least 10 minutes before some towels were dumped on the table and the staff member ran off. Still no conversation or acknowledgment of the situation. I sat a bit in shock and cold waiting for a resolution. My husband used the towels to try to soak it up but I reeked of alcohol and was shaking from being cold. We didn’t make a scene but instead were appalled by the lack of communication from staff.

I dropped off my silk dress, blazer, coat at the dry cleaners today as they smelled horribly of alcohol which will be a big cost to myself and was not considered by the staff yesterday. My hair appointment that was at 5 PM yesterday before dinner just to get drowned in liquor by 7 PM…. which was a waste. My bag and shoes I’ve been spot cleaning all day trying to get the smell out. My bag had a small pool of liquor in it which was unfortunate as I threw away some the items.

We were going to see a show after dinner and ended up going straight home as I was freezing, smelly, and embarrassed. I’m sad about the lack of acknowledgment from the staff. One person did comp just my salmon entree which was nice but not nearly covered even the dry cleaning. Such a bizarre experience for somewhere you expect high end service.

You couldn’t pay me to try here again. The whole group left very confused and upset. One of the more disappointing experiences I’ve had. We still spent well over $100 with the salmon off the bill for below average service, an $100 dry cleaning bill, a weird experience and...

Went in on December 17th, 2022 with a 8pm reservation for 8 people. Food was good, wine was great, our server was very knowledgeable about the menu which made ordering a breeze. He told us that he’s been working at metropole since the beginning. It’s funny that he said that, however, as our server acted like he hated every minute of serving our table. We had a table of 8 people for my best friends 24th birthday dinner. During her birthday toast where she also wanted to disclose exciting news that we’ve all been waiting to hear from her, we were interrupted TWICE by our server without any remorse. To top it off, the interruption was to ask about a to go meal. He said many times that they closed at 10pm when it was only 9pm and made jokes that the kitchen made our meal fast because they wanted to go home around 9:30pm. Seemingly wanting to rush us out. Another friend of mine ordered her second glass of sparkling rose which she had originally received in a flute. Her second pour arrived in a wine glass and was obviously flat/still compared to the sparkling rose my friend next to her had. When we asked the server for another glass since this one was not sparkling, he seemed reluctant to replace the glass blaming his manger for confirming that this was indeed sparkling. He also warned that they did not have any more flutes and that it would come in a wine glass. My friend, not wanting to be a bother, told him to not worry about it, and he quickly gives her her glass of flat rose back and walks away. After we spoke up for her the second time, without saying anything, he reluctantly picks up the glass and replaces it with SPARKLING rose in a FLUTE. Towards the end, around 9:45-9:50 he asks us if we wanted any desserts. A friend mentions to him that we do have a birthday, and his response was “ok…?” We ended up getting a birthday dessert after asking. Overall, the food and atmosphere was great, but the server made every single one of us feel like we didn’t belong. Will never bring anyone...

We had reservations at 6:15 on a Saturday night. We were seated right away and our server Sean (sp) was lovely and very attentive. The space is open but cozy at the same time. We started with two glasses of the French rose- a well balanced wine that went with the dishes we ordered. We were torn between the focaccia with butter and oil, or the fancy focaccia. Sean suggested the fancy one. The focaccia was excellent, but it was covered with so much cheese (not stated in the description), that we could hardly taste the prosciutto jam. We would have much preferred to taste the fluffy bread with a good olive oil or butter and keep it pure. Our second starter was the spicy Ahi tuna toast. It arrived with a very unappetizing looking mixture of a tuna and black garlic mixture that did not look at all like we expected. And the pieces of brioche on which it was served was too thick. The taste was fantastic though. If this dish were tweaked to look better, we would order it again. For our mains we had the Wagyu ravioli, and the Salmon Au Poivre. Upon arrival at the table, the ravioli looked like it had too much sauce, but the sauce was so well-balanced and lighter than it appeared. It was SO delicious. The beef inside was tender and had great beefy flavor. You would think a pepper sauce with 5 kinds of pepper (Sean told us this) would be too strong for salmon, but oh no it was not! The salmon was cooked to a perfect medium rare and had crispy skin. Highly recommend. The bean puree underneath was tasty, but there was no discernable grilled artichoke in the frisee salad. There were two tiny piece of what tasted like canned artichokes. We have eaten at Metropole over the years with a few different chefs at the helm. Chef Cova is making a strong first impression with us. We will joyfully return to try more of his menu.

I had dinner and breakfast here with my mom. First and foremost, the service was lovely both days: attentive, kind, and respectful! Both waitresses engaged in conversation with us and were very present. My highlights: the shrimp toast was amazing! So so fresh. The bread had a wonderfully soft texture that paired perfectly with the cold, crunchy shrimp salad. My breakfast was delicious. The potatoes were to die for-crispy skin, lots of flaky sea salt—perfect. They gave me a delicious tart jam to pair with my buttery, toasted sourdough. So fantastic. My mom didn’t love her breakfast as much as me. She had the eggs Benedict and said it was “okay.” She wished the coffee was stronger/richer. The homemade lemon cotton candy was creative and refreshing. The salmon dinner didn’t 100% meld for me. I loved the sauce and salmon, but the greens could have used a light vinaigrette. The potato chips didn’t add much to the dish for me. My mom got the gnocchi goat cheese and chicken. So deliciously rich with lots of great flavors and yummy breadcrumbs. We also got the cold asparagus-quite tasty! Overall a must try! Lots of creative and delicious meals.
