The Bortz family is now our family. Working with them throughout the process of trying to find an engagement ring for my fiancé was an incredible experience solely because of Matt. At the time, I was living in Washington, D.C. and had visited multiple jeweler trying to find the perfect ring.. it seemed at these jewelry stores that I was constantly being “sold,” it felt like the jeweler was not truly listening to what I wanted, etc.

When I found out about Bortz, I was unsure as to how this process would work with me living in a different state. However, after one conversation with Matt, I knew I did not want to buy a ring from anyone else.

Matt truly listened to what I was looking for, helped educate me on diamonds, and then provided quality options.. all while being honest & personable.

Amazing experience from start to finish. My engagement ring is a 1920's antique, and I knew it was going to be tricky finding a matching wedding band. We took it into Philip Bortz and they were so helpful and accommodating, and really listened to all of my concerns and what I wanted in a band. We were offered multiple options, but ended up making a mold of the pattern on my engagement ring so it matches perfectly, and Matt took excellent care to be sure the design complimented my engagement ring without over-shadowing it. He also made sure it was ready in time for our over-seas wedding! I could not be happier with the band, and the quality and personal touch beyond justified the cost (which was very reasonable). Last Monday I put my watch on as I was out the door for work…it wasn’t until mid-morning I realized it wasn’t working. I don’t have a watch with apps, or that tracks steps or anything fancy…just a watch that tells time :-)

I work downtown and like to find places down here to support local business. I found Philip Bortz Jewelers open on my lunch hour and walked over to see about fixing my watch.

The young man who greeted me at the door and quickly replaced my battery was very kind and professional. We had a nice little chat while he fixed my watch and then surprised me with a “this one’s on the house” when he was done.
