My family and I moved to the Pendleton neighborhood a few years ago. We've watched several fun restaurant/bars move into the area over the past two years. One thing was missing- a fun dessert spot. That's been solved.
Pendleton Parlor brings fun + sweets together in this little corner year round ice cream shop (aka creamy whip). I have to admit, I was skeptical of an ice cream place opening in late fall in Cincinnati. Cincy chilly falls and winters and ice cream doesn't seem like a good combo.
But no matter, this place delivers, even in the cold. First of all, it's just a fun place and great location. Right across from Chx/3Points on Broadway street, the store is decorated with old, eclectic statues, toys and other items you might find in a museum of pop culture.
On to the ice cream- I ordered my classic chocolate and peanut butter Sunday with hot fudge. If an ice cream parlor can't do this right...we're done. Fortunately, they nailed it! They smashed the peanut butter into the chelate ice cream and smothered it with hot fudge, whip cream nuts and a cherry. Two YUMS wayyy up!
The soft serve concept is simple but can be done multiple different ways. The toppings and syrups create a ton of varieties and the nice staff is more than ready to accommodate.
My daughter ordered an affogato (an ice cream, dough drink concoction). Yes, she let me have a bite. It was a delicious mix of flavors!
Surprisingly, there was a steady steam of customers coming through, even at the late hour. I can't imagine how packed this place will be once the winter thaw arrives. Another GREAT addition to the Pendleton food scene. We'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter having dinner down the street at Lucius Q, my friend strongly suggested that we come here for a bite of dessert. Iāve been meaning to check this place out for a while now and Iām glad it finally happened!
Iām not up for straight up scoops of cookie dough, but what my friend suggested, the flurry, sounded perfect for me! So I built my own! I wanted to try their seasonal Oreo cheesecake cookie batter, but apparently they were out. So my second choice was birthday cookies. The woman working there said she liked them slightly better than the regular sugar cookies because it was the same recipe but the birthday cookies had actual cake mix in it. Sounds Yum! Anyway, so I got a flurry with birthday cookies, Reeseās cups and peanut butter sauce with swirl ice cream. It was delicious! I would happily return to make another of the exact same thing.
Just a heads up that the flurries only come in one size and itās decently large. It looked to be the perfect size to me. I would happily eat one on my own and not share. Not too small and...
Ā Ā Ā Read morethis place is weird - stay away. that is unless you like cold flavorless dairy with nauseating decor, then this place is for you!
during our visit the staff was totally frazzled and manic (idk if they had a long day or what). the decor was a kitchen sink of (what seems like fake) vintage items that didn't make any sense and was quite off putting. kid's Disney movies were on in the background, which is fine, but there wasn't a child in sight and the place was filled with grown adults making the ambiance even more off putting.
now to talk about the ice cream. its a soft serve place so i expected a swirl. the chocolate side was broken (and I guess its been broken for awhile?) so I got a vanilla. genuinely terrible ice cream. my friend got a cold brew coffee with the vanilla and it was awful. and a 'Bring Your Own Banana' Banana split?? what kind of ice cream joint is this? not to mention we all got stomach aches ~15 mins after eating here.
go to Greaters - don't even think about wasting...
