Wife & I went to location in Clifton Park about 4-5 weeks ago and had a terrible experience. Wife already addressed that experience in a different review/different media outlet so I’ll refrain other than say it was completely service-based (we never even got to the food). Last night we gave it another shot because the owner reached out and assured us our first experience was unacceptable. We’d recently read an article suggesting that they have the #1 lobster roll, so needless to say, we were dying to get this thing! Last night’s service experience was not the issue this time, immediate service/acknowledgment and very pleasant female server. Extremely disappointed by the food taste. Bisque & Manhattan chowder both literally tasteless ($9/ea) and required unnecessary amounts of salt (or should I say necessary?). Now by no means am I a lobster connoisseur, and I have NO problems paying a premium for excellent food, however the $29 hot lobster roll (priced as if we were sitting on a deck in Maine or the Cape) was mediocre at very best. If it were $19, I’d simply be reviewing the soup but if you’re gonna charge anyone that price for a lobster roll, it better be #1 on lists inland or I’d better be sitting on that deck I already mentioned. Hot? Yes. Buttery? Yes. Fresh? Seemingly yes. Quality meat? Absolutely not…more like scraps with the exception of the two partial claw pieces draped over the top. I’m a reasonable person…this was a $16-18 lobster roll in my humble opinion. I’ll even call it $18-20 MAX in this economy. 2 soups, 2 rolls, 2 teas, $93 before gratuity!! I should’ve stuck to a fish fry or clam roll and saved $50…the nice old couple seemed to be enjoying that next to us. Silver lining?...
Read moreWe heard this restaurant was very good, so we took a chance and stopped for seafood take out. I ordered blackened haddock, and my husband order scallops. While we waited we shared a beer out on their quint patio area. The waitresses, South Glens Falls gals were extremely attentive, helpful, and their charming friendliness made you feel right at home at this wonderful hidden gem of Saratoga! Well, when we got home and started eating our food, we were extremely excited about the portions and taste of everything. It was absolutely the best Cajun blackened haddock I ve ever eaten, and the portion was plenty, at least 7 or 8 oz. It was prepared perfectly and had a delicious spicy bite to it, very delicious! I was more than full afterwards . My husband loved his large Sea Scallops and there was a very good portion of them. The meals came with 2 sides ; there was a large selection to choose from. The New England Clam Chower was excellent! They have everything on the menu from Lobster Bisque and Calamari to burgers, fish& chips, lobster rolls, pasta, baskets, sandwiches, chicken, subs, and daily specials. Their speciality is seafood of course, like shrimp, clams, lobster, fish, oysters and more . We will definitely return to this wonderful place and dine inside or ouside. Thank you, Eddie Fs for a delicious dinner! I must say I ve read some of the " local guides poor reviews " , and I researched all their reviews at local, excellent Saratoga and Queensbury restaurants. These local guides are giving most all the restaurants they eat at, very untrue poor reviews, and I would think something could be done to stop this unfortunate situation for excellent restaurants who...
Read moreDiscovered this place a couple of years ago, and go several times in the spring and summer and have had wonderful food and service. Went for the first time this year this week and it was just okay. I’ve never cared for the fries or onion rings but that’s at any food place. The coleslaw has been always delicious but this time something was off it was just pretty much dry cabbage. We always get the delicious lobster hot lobster rolls but they were barely warm this time and it was still okay but I like them hot. The waitress I’m not sure of her name as she didn’t tell us had zero personality and seemed as if we were bothering her by being there. It’s hard to describe but she seemed like she was running around in sort of an overwhelmed way. I have definitely seen this place busier and waited over 30 minutes for the bill after asking for it. We ended up going to the other server to pay. Upon doing that I asked for change a specific way to tip, and wasn’t given it correctly, and felt defeated and just left. My husband and I are very generous tippers and have always tipped our servers here at least $50. Usually spend a little over $100 here each time we go. I’m hoping the next time is a better experience. I would like to note that I didn’t speak up to the waitress or about the food or experience, it makes me uncomfortable so I didn’t allow for it to be made right. I would have but again she wasn’t personable and it was very hard to even get the bill this time. I’m hoping that it was just an off day. Prior to my most recent visit everything was a 5 star experience so went doing this review I took some stars off, I will update when I...
