Saturday morning breakfast in Saratoga Springs during track season...we took our chance by going into town at 9:30 but the crowds weren't too bad. We found a parking spot nearby and we were able to walk into the cafe and get a table for two. There are 2 dining areas - we were in the smaller room, bigger room next door. Cute decor - farm theme, milk bottles, antique plates on the walls, etc. One thing that I loved was that this dining room was clean! No dust on the milk bottles, shelves, pictures. Windows clean. While we were eating one guy wiped down the door window and frame. Now to the important part - the food! Oh.My.Goodness! Delicious! So happy we went here. I had the Irish Omelette - homemade corn beef hash with cheese. Corned beef was perfect - not overly seasoned like some can be. You could taste the beef and it was goooood. There was a little cheese - perfect amount, not the over the top gooey mess you can get at a typical diner. The egg was thick and done very nicely. I upgraded to the biscuit - highly recommend this! It must have been about 5-6" across, warm, buttery, perfect. I also ordered a side of sausage gravy and it was delicious. Some sausage gravies are so over seasoned with rosemary that you can't taste the sausage - not the case here, simple salt, pepper, little bit of seasoning. My hubs had a breakfast sandwich - chicken, bacon, egg and cheese on a biscuit with sausage gravy for dipping. So huge! He had to cut it in half and it still fell apart. He loved every bite. We both had tater tots - something different but definitely worked. They make their own jelly there - so we tried the strawberry and peach/mango. Wow. Just wow. I loved the peach/mango - not bland like typical peach jelly can be. Service was great even though it was very, very busy by the time we left. Our server was very attentive and helpful when ordering. Highly recommend this...
Read moreEverything about our experience here was great. We have been before, but probably not in at least the past few years.
From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The space is small and cozy (there is additional seating 2 doors down as others have noted). Water was brought out promptly and orders taken quickly as well. In the best way possible it felt more like I was eating in a friend or family member's home and not at a restaurant.
The food was incredible. My husband has already decided we need to make a repeat visit for our next monthly breakfast date. First, I absolutely love that they offer tomato juice; so many places just have V8. I ordered the Irish Omelet with a side of hollandaise sauce and hubby ordered the Breakfast Bowl; both with tater tots. He was starving and ordered a cinnamon roll while waiting for the food. I added a single cinnamon apple pancake as well.
He devoured the cinnamon roll in seconds, so I know that was good. Both of our egg dishes were terrific, even more so with some hollandaise added. The homemade corned beef in my omelet was perfect and we both appreciated the choice of tater tots (also dipped in sauce). I will be dreaming about the hollandaise until I get back there to have it again. The only change I might make would be to the pancakes. I ordered it knowing the apple was cooked inside. It might be even yummier served on top - hot cinnamon apples and maybe a dash of whipped cream. Yum! The marble rye toast was exactly the kind I liked too, and the strawberry jam was great with it.
This is a terrific spot and I am so glad we rediscovered it! Definitely need to stop back for lunch again...
Read moreHad very high hopes coming here. We got on a waiting list and waited nearly an hour to be seated. After we were seated I asked if the special could have scrambled eggs instead of over easy and was told "No, the cooks dont have time to do that." It was busy but come on. So I ordered a Crispy Chicken Salad and home fries with peppers and onions. We waited 35 more minutes for the food and I got what looked like a small handful of greens, One Chicken Tender cut into tiny pieces and a bunch of pecans and cranberries with a tablespoon of dressing. The waitress immediately apologized for the dressing and brought a full container. It seemed like they ran out of chicken and tried to make up for it by tossing in a bunch of pecans. It was a large salad bowl but looked sad because it was like 75% empty. The homefries had no peppers, not one and were def a mix of old potatoes that were well done and a few that were underdone. The coffee was very watery and tasted like nothing. No one ever came back to check on us after we were served and we had to get up and ask for the check then take it up to thd register ourselves. My partner's food was fine. She had one of the Benedicts and thought it was very good. Mine was rather unimpressive to say the least. Too bad because we really were excited to try the place, waited the hour without complaining then seemed to be forgotten in the...
