This is a negative review but I did not try the Gelato or any items on the menu so gave it a neutral star rating to be fair....
the reason I didn't order Gelato was because 1. Despite not wearing or enforcing masks, they DO NOT GIVE OUT SAMPLES. I'm sure this is at best, just sus, and at worst, discriminatory if servers let friends and family taste. 2. It smells kinda funny inside, as if they clean with dirty towels or mops. 3. A small cup, probably smaller than an entire fist worth of serving, is $6.75. For less than a dollar more, you can get a simple waffle cone ice cream from Ben and Jerry's that is walking distance from here. I love trying new things, but WHAT A LET DOWN.
Edit: this used to be a three star review to be neutral, but decided that the owner response warranted a negative 1 star review. I hope that this place contributes positively to the community, irrespective of my opinion, and to fellow travelers like myself. I want to be clear as to my opinions because it seems that the owner found my opinion to be potentially hurtful to their business, which I'm not sure about but could understand if this is the case.
At the time of my visit, no one was wearing masks, including servers. This was acceptable to me and my husband. We wished to sample because the price seemed high, and we wanted to pay for something we knew we would enjoy. We accepted that no samples would be provided by refusing to buy any Gelato. We were excited to try at first because we often are repeat customers of anywhere good quality Gelato is provided - but we recognize this establishment has the right to uphold rules as much as we have the right to take our business elsewhere. No harm no foul.
My mother is a housekeeper, and I've always maintained close work relationships with retail housekeepers in previous jobs. On the day of the visit, I recognized a smell that I've encountered before that is unpleasant to me. Considering this place was the only place that triggered this response the day I visited, I found it important to remark. I only request that the establishment determines the source of the smell and eliminates it one way or another, but I'm not planning to revisit ever so if the owner claims the smell never existed, I'm not going to refute that.
I prefer Gelato over ice cream any day. One or two samples would've been sufficient for me to become a repeat customer. I'm disheartened that the owner chose to reply in such a way that criticized my judgement, so I can only imagine that if I were to return and recognized, I would not be offered the best possible meal with the best possible service and I would not feel comfortable or welcomed. For this reason, I chose to lower my rating. This experience has been unpleasant for me. I ask that the owner empathize with my experience - but I will be just fine if they do not. May your business prosper and may the community enjoy what you...
Read moreThis review is for the owner of the store. If you have humanity, you will read this message and correct the situation. Four of us went to your store today around 2:15PM for coffee. Associate approached us and we ordered two cappuccio and one regular coffee. While she (sales associate) was preparing coffee, she was shaking and ended up burhing her hand. Long story short, She gave us the cappuccinos and as we went to your little table to add sugar , and sugar was empty. So i asked the girl for the sugar...and her response was " i am not sure if we have sugar and she started crying and shaking". Then i asked why she was crying and shaking...with loads of tears, she responded, " i dont know what to do and i am autistic". A shocking answer to me! How the hell, you (owner) let her work by herself? You do not have any common sense? It is really good that she is working but someone else needs to work with her. Please have someone with her so this poor girl does not get stressed when a group of customers walks in. Helping her will definitely help you and your business. Autistic children are angels and they are way better...
Read moreWife and I are BIG coffee drinkers. We're always looking for a good local coffee and dessert spot, but more importantly, one that is open later than 5PM. It's rare to find a place like this open until 9PM. When visiting Saratoga recently, we past by while doing some day time window shopping. We were thrilled to see the late hours posted, and immediately added it to our itinerary. We stopped by one evening an hour or so after dinner and could not have been happier. Not only was there a wonderful selection of gelato, but the cappuccino was outstanding as well. I can't say enough nice things about the young lady who served us. Friendly and attentive, an absolute sweetheart. We don't get to Saratoga at often as I'd like, but this place is one more reason to try and get there more often. Will most...
