5/11/25 update Ok, I read the recent reviews and they're spotty. It's obvious ownership has changed a along with the menu. Prices have slightly increased. New host, new cook. My wife and I really loved the mother/daughter duo that used to run Yum Mi and their food was excellent. There are big shoes to fill. That being said, the new ownership is off to a fantastic start!
I strongly disagree with previous reviews comparing the quality of the new dishes to that of a food court. My wife and I had the spring rolls, egg plant and curry dishes. They're absolutely excellent. The spice tray brought out to the table was a nice touch though I shouldn't be trusted in managing my own spices, I went way overboard with a spice level but I don't regret a thing, it was delicious.
Portion size is somewhat smaller than it used to be. While we appreciate quality over size, the new ownership should consider their location. People around here really value the portion size for value. They should consider increasing portions by 15-20%. But that isn't a hill to die on.
The hostess was fantastic to speak to. She seemed excited for the opportunity to run a new place.
New ownership: keep the quality up. You're on the right track. People butthurt over the changes: I get it. Change is hard. We'll miss the previous ownership. Continue to give the new guys a chance.

I'm not going to lie, I was kinda bummed out when I saw Tan Thai had closed down and some place with a gimmicky name like "Yum Mi" had taken it's place. Tan Thai was my favorite spot in Southern Indiana though it's obvious something went wrong in their last months of operation. With all that being said, I had to try this new place, and I'll tell you what, I'm impressed. Honestly, it's an updated, yet familiar menu. Very similar to Tan Thai and the taste is spot on. Did family pick up where Tan Thai left off? I don't know, but I'm happy with their decision to stay the course with this delicious food and menu. Spicy level #2 is the right spot for me, enough to make my nose run. You know, the good hurt. Good times are here again, Thai food lovers. My wife and I will be back many...
Read moreThis place just became Yummi Thai. Under new management/ownership. Although I was sad that the previous owners decided to take a permanent leave of absence, I was happy to know that some things didn't change. They have a new menu, but they still serve my favorite dish, Pad Thai. It definitely doesn't taste the same, but I like it anyway (because I like peanuts in my pad thai). This place was hopping on day 2 of opening, which makes me think they will do well! The lighting is brighter, and the soap dispenser in the bathroom is new (so new that it squirted all over my shirt😂), but Alicia is still there (from Yum Mi). My family and I tried the veggie and tofu pad thai and the spicy tofu dish. We were not disappointed! We also tried the sticky mango rice dessert with the ice cream. Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat the dessert in the restaurant, and they didn't have plain vanilla ice cream, but it was still delicious! I definitely recommend putting the ice cream on top of the rice asap if you will be taking it home, so it doesn't get hard. I liked the freshness of the vegetables and sprouts and the taste of the fresh mango in the dessert. The servers were kind and friendly, and the chef made delicious food! Because of the high prices, I'm not sure how often we will eat here again, but we'll definitely be going back, and I do recommend others giving it a try... especially thai...

The dining area is very pleasant and appealing, much more than I would have imagined considering it's in a strip shopping center.
I ordered the Panang Curry, "Thai hot" spice level. It was delicious, fragrant, aromatic, and all that I expect from very good Thai food.
The spice level was not as hot as some Thai restaurants, but additional spices were provided at the table to add at my discretion. Since spice is subjective, I appreciated this approach.
The presentation of the entrée was visually appealing and stood out for it's appearance. Care was taken when preparing the dish.
My only criticism relates to portion size, both the meal and the protein in the entrée. Compared to most Thai restaurants, the portion was small. While I didn't leave hungry, I felt the portion (for the price paid) should be larger. Likewise, my dish had 3 shrimp and a very modest amount of chicken (similar to a small chicken tender). The rice serving, while adequate for the size of the entrée, was also small.
There are several excellent Thai restaurants in Louisville, but if you want delicious Thai food on this side of the river, Yummi is one of two...
