Had just gotten into town and were looking for a close, quick and casual place to eat. This place looked to have decent reviews and Mexican is usually pretty efficient in service. Started with a couple of drinks, Paloma and spicy Margarita. Ordered chips and salsa (not gratis) and bacon wrapped shrimp. Drinks were good, chips and salsa had good flavor and arrived promplty. Shrimp took about 20 minutes. 4 of them, bacon seemed extra salty. The spicy chipolte ranch had no spice, tasted like just ranch dressing, kind of an odd combo with the shrimp. We ordered our entrees when the appetizers were delivered. Finished our shrimp and then proceeded to wait over 1/2 hour for our entrees to arrive. I ordered the Melting Chimichanga with steak, my wife ordered a Bowl with grilled chicken. Not sure how they called what I got a chimichanga. It was not fried or griddled. It was a vey dense flour tortilla sitting in some kind of white sauce. It had some steak and chorizo inside, but I found no pinto beans as it said was supposed to be inside. There was supposed to be melting chees, I guess that was what the white sauce was supposed to be, but not very cheesy. The Bowl was ok, chicken had good flavor. Everything else pretty basic. Pretty disappointed that we had to spend almost 2 hours for very less than mediocre food. Probably should have just stuck with simple tacos, which are...
Read moreI happened in on a Wednesday because Mexican food. My most recent experience had been a disappointment and I was determined to get past that before returning to Canada. There was a line but I figured a line was an encouraging indicator.
Turned out there was a Pink concert and every woman in Cleveland, and her sisters who flew in from Jersey were grabbing Mexican food here before the concert. There was a sea of pink clothing and a few pink hairdos. It seemed the restaurant was not staffed for this pink invasion.
However, Marcer, the host at the door was managing the crowd conscientiously. As a solo I didn’t want to take up a full table but the bar was full. Eventually, after I invited larger groups of Pink fans to be seated ahead of me, Marcer found a barstool and created a seat for me at the bar.
The mezcal hibiscus margarita was amazing! The gigantic burrito was equally tasty. But the most impressive part of this restaurant was the sincerity of the service. What a...
Read moreFirst time in Cleveland, and I was looking for somewhere to grab food, our hotel receptionist recommended Blue Agave. Location is in a busier part of downtown Cleveland, but I love the fact it's located in an alley next to a bunch of other restaurants.
Service was decent, our waiter seemed like he was over the day, but aside from that the food was definitely worth it. The quesadilla sampler wasn't really a sampler, but more of just a single quesadilla (on the smaller side) cut in half. Now the steak inside the quesadilla was tender, juicy, with flavor so that made up for the size.
For the main, we ordered the Burito Azteca and this thang was on point! Steak, chicken, and shrimp inside the burrito with peppers and onions, and they weren't stingy with the meat either.
Overall a dope little Tex-Mex spot with a higher end feel atmosphere, but nothing crazy fancy. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick bite or a dinner date with...
