I came here to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend and unfortunately it was an unpleasant experience at this place. We have been here before and it was an amazing experience but yesterday it was terrible service. For a slow Wednesday we thought we would have had better service than what we had received but clearly we were wrong. Sever was just hopping on shift and wasn’t really friendly . We asked for hot water like 2 times before it was actually given to us. My boyfriend steak was really over cooked and tough the food lacked flavor. Shrimp cocktail sauce had an overpowering amount of horseradish or ginger I’m not even sure what it was but it was so strong and pungent. We barely touched our side dishes they weren’t very hot and the mashed potatoes were super thick and dry. We had ordered salads before our entrees and asked for no blue cheese my boyfriend salad had blue cheese in it and it wasn’t very visible at first it was one piece on the side but when he lifted up a piece of the lettuce it was all under the salad wedge which was very disappointing. We told the server to send it back and his response was “oh just that small piece” when my boyfriend lifted the wedge of lettuce to show him it was way more than just that little piece he then grabbed the salad to take it back. The salad comes with croutons our salad we originally ordered didn’t have croutons until the server brought back the new salad without the blue cheese. So the salad wasn’t right to begin with. We were able to finally get the server attention to get the check my boyfriend mentioned to him that the steak was over cooked we weren’t going to send it back as we were just so ready to go. But since we mentioned that the server insisted on getting a manger. The manager was really nice and offered to remake the steak but we were in a rush we have drove over an hour and it was raining with the terrible experience we were ready to go before the manager had even came over we asked the server for to go boxes twice. Still didn’t receive it until we told the manager we need to go boxes so we can leave. She gave us a discount on the steak like 10 dollars off when we spent 56 dollars on the steak that wasn’t eaten she should have taken the whole steak off as my boyfriend couldn’t even eat it and on top of that we didn’t even pack it up to take home. She asked if we came in for a special occasion I told her it was my birthday she insisted on giving me a complimentary dessert at this point we had said yes. When we received the check all of a sudden the waiter was friendly and apologetic but it was too late for that buddy as he gotten a poor tip due to the lack of service he finally had asked us at the end if we were celebrating something when that should of been the first thing he asked when were seated to start off a light conversation but he just wasn’t friendly at all and awkward. By the time we finally got our receipt the brownie still didn’t come out yet so we just got up and left. Overall just would never...
Read moreThis would be 5 stars because EVERYTHING was great. Our server Sean was very nice, acknowledgeable, very outgoing and over all made my girlfriend and I feel very welcome. The Kung Fun Girl ($8) and my 2 beers (wheat and blonde $5.50) were priced very well. We had the calamari ($11) which was very tasty. Just the right amount wasabi drizzle on it. What gives this a rating less than 5 stars was the main course. We both had 14oz New York Strip steak Diane style ($78 total). Both were cooked perfectly. I had mine Pittsburgh style and this place is the only place that was able to replicate it other than Cedar Creek Grill. My g/f ordered hers med rare which, she says was a little more on the rare side, but she was overall happy with it. 1st problem was the 3 pepper crusting. It completely over powered the steak. She actually scrapped the majority off and still could not enjoy her steak. We both had nerves running throughout the steaks, she had more than I, but we still tried to work around it. I didn't have as much as she did so I was able to finish and put the pieces I couldn't finish off to the side. It wasn't until she got to the last 5oz's of her steak that she cut into it 3 times and saw a large mass of nerves. We brought it to Sean's attention who then showed his manager. The manager told Sean that it was unacceptable but never came to the table. In fact we did not see the manager do a single touch to a table since we got here at 8:10 (reservation was 8:30). Sean said the manager would pay for the first round - 1 beer and a glass of wine. Both of us work in the food industry and know that table touches in a situation like this is necessary, especially when it's the main course and this place is known for the steak .
Needless to say we won't be back. Again Sean did a FANTASTIC job and he is a wonderful server. As of 10:10pm the manager still hasn't arrived. We are incredibly disappointed in our food, but incredibly impressed by Sean. It's sad when your appetizers outshine your entre. This was a very disappointing...
Read moreId say like a 4.5 if i could. Only minor things lessened my rating. 1st off: Hostess was amazing. I reserved a table online and had never done that before so i called to check that they got the reservation. Super nice, cheerful and helpful each time i called. Really gives you a good 1st impression of the restaurant. I called again to ask about the dress code since online it said they have one. She said "we prefer business casual." We didnt really wanna dress up. In my opinion if i have the money, i should be able to dress any damn way i want lol. But, just in case we dressed up. Only to find others wearing literal sweatshirts. I was jealous. Lol now, we know for next time. Steak was amazing. Cooked just right. Seasoned just right. Has that nice char on the outside too. I like that steaks come with at least 1 side. The rest are a la carte. Drinks were amazing. They do cornbread here in place of table bread. So. Good. The butter on top is sweet and the cornbread is delish. Service was good too. Very friendly. Kept our drinks full. Bussers were on top of keeping our table clear. Only downside, im at a very expensive restaurant and find a dirty fork in my napkin. She apologized alot for it though. Not that i was mad. Atmosphere is amazing. Cozy and comfy but also fancy feeling. Its a good inbetween. We used the valet service which was nice. Only cash though. 1s time using that too so i dont know if only cash is normal. They were really nice friendly guys though. Its downtown cleveland so we got approached by 2 people asking for money while waiting for our car. So be careful. All in all. We will be back for sure....
