Dined here 3/15 around 7pm. I walked in and was not greeted by whom I thought was the host. Instead the man just stared at me. After the initial akwardness I made the man aware I had a reservation. I was led to our table, which was in the corner next to the bar and immediately next to another couple enjoying their meal. Needless to say we felt cramped, in an empty resturaunt. A young lady appraoched my table without introducing herself, asking if I would like to order a drink, I declined and stated I was waiting for my guest. Once my guest arrived we were approached by the man who stared at me when I had entered, again no introduction of who he was, asking if we were ready to order! Obviously my guest had just sat down, we had not even ordered drinks so no we were not ready. He than began to ramble off the specials of the night, then left. The young lady stopped by to ask if we would like to order drinks, I ordered the moscato and my guest the Pinch Scotch-adding that he would like a few icecubes. When our drinks were brought to the table his scotch was filled with ice as if it were a soft drink. We ordered the stuffed banana peppers for our appetizer, in addition to our entrees of the Jumbo Stuffed Shrimp and the Twin Stuffed Lobster Tails. The appetizer arrived and it looked very good, but much to our suprize it was bland, like eating saugy cardboard. It was barely touched as we only took one bite each. Our servers-who didn't have names- didnt take note that we barely touched the appetizer-which one in the service would indicate there was a dislike. They simply just removed it from the table and presented us with our salads. The salad had barely any dressing, and the dressing that was there, tasted like a mixture of ketchup and italian dressing. Again this was barely touched. A short time later our entrees arrived the presentation was great, the smell was amazing and we were very excited to enjoy our meal. The young lady offered to cut my guest's tails, she butchered one of the tails stating she had only done this one time before. (Can you say awesome training?) RIce and vegtables came along with our meal, the young lady asked if we would like some rice, and served this on our plates, but did offer to serve the vegtables. We both thought this was odd. Offer to serve one but not the other? Much to our surpise both the lobster and the shrimp were luke warm, very chewy, dry and hard to cut. The rice was fantastic however! Again our meals were barely touched, and neither of our nameless servers took note of that. When they did stop by and ask how everything was, I said "ehhh it's just alright, not the greatest". The male server nodded his head, smiled and said "Great!", then walked away. It seemed to take about 15 minutes after we were done eating to get our plates removed, then an additional 15 minutes or so to ask if we wanted desert but a different nameless server. I ordered the Caramel Cheese Cake. I was brought out a slice of carrot cake instead, after I had let the 2nd male nameless server what I had ordered he left to get it. The cheesecake was absolutely AMAZING! The presentation was nice, it was rich, creamy, sweet and very flavorful. I would definitely order this again. We waited a counted 20 minutes after I had finished desert to receive our check. My guest had left a cash tip on the table. The young lady server, came over picked up the tip, without removing the desert plate or to ask if we had wanted anything else. (We didn't but it is still good eticate in my opinion) It is clear this resturatunt does not hold high standards, if any on the service or its food. It was a horrible experience, with overpriced, disgusting food, and I will never return. I also tried to visit the website to write to the resturaunt but their website has "expired" meaning they have not paid to have their domain still up and active. I wouldnt suggest this place for anything but the wine...
Read more(Photos are of waiter demeaningly asking for bill info before food was served, the rice the waiter dropped and did not clean so we had to walk over food to exit, and the waiter telling us they charged 20% gratuity because we had more than 5 people when the menus clearly says 10 or more) I have been a patron of Mallorca since 2013 or before. I have had 3 birthday dinners, buisness lunches and dinner dates during that time. My last time visiting was before the pandemic. So to be here making this review is yet another upsetting portion of my most recent experience. I decided to have my 45th Birthday dinner at Mallorca this past Saturday. My reservation was made a full week prior to the date for a party of 8. Once we arrived the day of reservation, we were told that our table had been given to someone else ( we reserved a private seating area). So we were sat in the open and cold bar seating area. We (5people) arrived early as to greet the incoming guest and we were asked repeatedly when they remaining guest will arrive. I explained that most guests would be arriving shortly...3 times ( within 20 mins) before having to ask if we could at least be served beverages and appetizers. After 30 mins, (reservation was for 7pm... all guest in attendance at 720pm, app order not taken until 750pm), we were provided bread and the pitcher of sangria that I previously requested. The waiter then asked if we would like appetizers and we all replied that we had already asked...but now we were ready for dinner. One of the guest order 3 entrees to split between her and another guest. 1 guest orderd an app with her entree and the other guests all ordered entrees. The waiter sarcastically insinuated that we were unaware of the amount of entrees orderd and he repeatedly (like 5 times) asked if we knew how many entrees were orderd.. he counted them all 5 times he asked and it was very demeaning. Dinner was served around 840pm. Before the food was even fully sat on the table, He asked how we would split the bill, so he stood there while we talked about the bill before we even finished being served our food. After that, we did not see a waiter until it was time to ask for a check (which we had to go and grab a waiter for). They brought the bills over and then came over to bring to go trays at which time the waiter started grabbing food off the table without asking if it was something we would like to be taken. He dropped a big plate of rice on the floor and did not clean it up. Another waiter then came back to collect the checks advising that he made a mistake (on all of our checks). When we got the checks back, they added a 20% gratuity to each check that should have only been added to a party of 10 or more, combined food orders that should not have been combined and charged the wrong cards for the wrong meals. The food was very low quality and 1 guest who ordered ravioli was only given 2 with a plate full of sauce. There is so much more I can add here...it's sickening. My guest had to walk over rice to leave and we did not have any birthday recognition from the restaurant at all. People were still being over charged the day after and when I called to speak with a manager, they said she was on vacation until Friday. My birthday dinner was ruined and I was highly embarrassed. The only photos and videos I have are of the staff treating us poorly and then us finally voicing our disapproval. Never would I have expected to be treated that way by any resturant...but it hurts knowing that it...
Read moreJust to preface, I’m visiting Cleveland from out of town with family. We’ve been to a few of of the nicer restaurants in town, and considering Mallorca’s theme, location, and prices, we assumed that this would be a nicer, more upscale restaurant.
Oh how wrong we were.
The first impression was nice! We walked in to see an entrance adorned with articles praising the owner and the restaurant. The dining room was much smaller than expected. We were seated and serviced quickly by our server George. He was very flamboyant in his service, and cracked a few jokes, but never returned to our table afterwards. We drank some (extraordinarily average) sangria while we perused the menu. After a few minutes, a different server came back and took our order.
Here’s where the fun begins.
Once the food comes out, we immediately knew we’ve made a grave mistake. Each dish came in its own shade of baby vomit. My sister ordered some sort of “chicken with wine sauce,” which is the included picture. It was pounded until it was unrecognizable, and upon close inspection was severely freezer burnt. It was covered in a fluorescent yellow sauce that I can only describe as both bland and vile. My mother ordered a shrimp tortellini. I tasted it and immediately what it was: the frozen cheese tortellini from Costco. My father ordered a filet mignon which was not only cooked medium instead of medium rare, but showed very obvious signs of a very long visit in a freezer. My sister ordered a lobster ravioli that was a surprisingly monotone shade of beige, and somehow tasted like it was cooked in a swimming pool. My brother had a fried shrimp dish, which I am entirely positive was from Costco because I’ve made the same in the comfort of my own kitchen. I ordered the “Camarones de Ajillo,” or garlic shrimp. I was served a bowl in an incredible amount of shrimp, with more of the obvious rubbery-freezer taste and texture. Despite the name of “garlic shrimp” the sauce had only one recognizable taste: Frank’s Red Hot.
We all got a kick out of how awful this food was. We were tasting each other’s dishes just out of curiosity at this point. It was a very strange way for us to entertain ourselves, but it was the only way to raise the morale after a tragically disappointing meal.
Until I immediately had the urge to vomit in the restaurant restroom.
I’m now convinced that they added the Frank’s to hide the ammonia.
Steer clear from Mallorca. You’ll be extremely disappointed at best, and instantly sick at worst.
Also, if you want to be even more grossed out, check out the results of their health inspections.
Edit: And I know the owner is about to leave a very long response, shaming me for giving “their beloved Mallorca” a bad review, which is already a red flag. It seems that after every single bad review, the owner NEVER takes responsibility of the poor food and service and blames it on the industry or the customer. This is my first experience with a restaurant that truly deserves a spot on Kitchen Nightmares.
Edit 2: They have since doctored the original response. This is wildly unprofessional and honestly just bizarre. A lot of the reviews here read as like very fake reviews. If you ever eat here, you’ll understand...
