We initially visited this establishment for an event about a year ago but was unable to try the food. So, my lady and I decided to try the food this past Saturday.
We were fortunate enough to walk in and get immediate seating. Our waitress had impeccable customer service. Alexa's attitude was amazing.
Since the last event I went to be a bourbon event, I requested a listing of the available bourbons at the bar. We were informed of Bulliet, Jim Beam and Southern Comfort were the only bourbon options.
We then proceeded with ordering the dry rubbed smoked wings. There were by far the best I've had outside of my own. Very smokey and flavored.
Entries we decided on the pick 2 for $30. Ribs and brisket options with cornbread, greens and baked beans. I will do this review separately for clarity. The ribs were filled with flavor. My date got hers with sauce and mine without. In my opinion this was the definitely the best part of the entry. The brisket, the first order that came out, my date informed me that it was still cold. So, I shared with the service provider, and she brought us another serving of the brisket. We tasted a piece, and it was tougher than desired. Throughout the process, we were being harassed by flies, so we decided to pack up our food to enjoy at home. We continued to enjoy our dinner. The greens were a bit salty, added some sugar to allow us to finish them. The baked beans, my date added some seasoning and reheated on the stovetop so she could finish them. The cornbread was outstanding!!!! I didn't attempt to eat the remaining meats and decided to cook for breakfast the next morning.
The second batch of brisket, I slow cooked it to add to an egg, with cheese on a taco wrap for breakfast. This brisket was definitely tougher than my likings. I can honestly state that I was a bit disappointed in the overall experience. I am from Texas, and we pride ourselves on smoked brisket, ribs and pulled pork. So, which is why I never order with sauce, because I want to taste the quality of the smoked meat. The meat here was smokey, but I missed seasoning and tenderness, except for the smoked wings.
I hope this review is taken into consideration because I would love to have...
Read moreMy husband and I were on the Westside and decided to grab something to eat. We looked up places, and " Sweet pork Wilson's" were one of the options that popped up. We loved the fact that it was black owned, so we decided to give it a try. It's a nice, cozy little BBQ spot. I could see on a busy day/night that parking could be a little hectic. But fortunately for us, it wasn't that night. We were greeted once we walked in by the bar tender and told to seat wherever we wanted. They had a nice crowd, but there were still several seats available. Once seated, we were greeted by our server India to take our drink orders. India was great. She gave us great recommendations on the drinks and food. She also gave fun Auntie vibes. We loved her. We tasted almost everything on the menu. We ordered the happy hour specials, which were fried pickles, pulled pork sliders, and the jerk wings. Everything was fresh and hot. All 3 appetizers were delicious, but our favorite of the 3 were the p.p sliders. I would definitely order all 3 apps again. Now, for the entree, I had the 3 meats with 3 sides. Brisket, ribs(4ct), and grilled chicken thighs. The sides were mac and cheese, greens, and smashed potatoes. My meal was absolutely mouthwatering. My favorite was that smoked brisket 😋😋😋 it was so juicy and meaty. The ribs were practically falling off the bone, and the thighs were juicy and grilled perfectly. That Mac and cheese was so yummy, and the greens were flavorful, and the smashed were okay. My husband had the 2 meat plate with baked beans and fries. His meat was smoked turkey and ribs (4ct) he loved loved the ribs😋. Baked beans were good. However, he wasn't a fan of the smoked turkey breast, and we never received the fries. I think they ran out. Oh, we also tried the cornbread, and it's a must-have with your meal. It was sweet and buttery. By the time we left, it was almost a full house, and India was on top of it. This restaurant gets a 5-star from us from the service to the delicious BBQ. The Adams will definitely be back, and we'll make sure everyone knows about this BBQ treasure on...
Read more5/5 Stars: A Smoky Masterpiece at Sweet Pork Wilson’s BBQ We are first time visitors to Cleveland and were searching for the perfect barbecue place while here. We could smell the aroma blocks away so did a search and I'm thrilled to report that we found it! Sweet Pork Wilson’s has won us over! This unassuming spot close to downtown is a hidden gem that serves up some of the most tender, flavorful 'cue we’ve ever had the pleasure of devouring. From the moment we walked in, the aroma of slow-cooked meats wafted through the air, tantalizing our taste buds and building anticipation. Our server Jessica, friendly and knowledgeable, helped us navigate the menu, which features a range of meats smoked to perfection! Jason and Ramadi heard it was our first time here so they brought out some samples to try, and every one of them was better than the one before! We started with the homemade fried pickles, then ordered the 3 and 3 sampler platter, which arrived promptly at our table, piled high with a generous selection of meats and sides. The star of the show was undoubtedly the brisket, which melted in our mouths with an incredible tenderness and flavor profile. The smokiness was perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness from the brown sugar and spices. The pork ribs were equally impressive, with a rich, velvety texture and and fall off the bone delight. The collard greens and mashed potatoes are divine!!! Ohh and let’s not forget the corn bread, moist and grilled slightly in butter! Jason then had us try the chicken wings, which after eating them I suggest Buffalo folks should definitely try!! All in all, it was a totally delightful dining experience and we highly recommend you come in and experience for yourself!! You won’t be...
