Ooi Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Clovis

My husband and I usually go to Ooi for our sushi fix. The service is never good, but it didn’t really bother us because they had good sushi. It wasn’t until I had out of town relatives visiting that we went and received the worst service ever! We were a group of 11 adults and 5 kids. We got there at 8:45pm on a Saturday and their hours for dinner online was posted til10pm. We arrived and instead of just telling us that they were closing and not accepting any orders, they seated us (because they probably wanted the extra $185 tab) and it wasn’t until we ordered out first order from their all you can eat menu that the waitress told us they were closing at 9:30 and last call is at 9pm. Half the items we ordered from the kitchen was not available because “they were closing”! When asked the waitress simply said, “we are closing early because we were slow so we don’t have fried rice”. I told the waitress we thought they closed at 10pm, but she was positive that they closed at 9:30pm and for us to “never trust online hours, only trust their posted hours at the door”. While sitting there arguing with the waitress, more customers walk in and they all were turned away! We even heard two guys say they thought the restaurant closed at 10pm!!

So, when we left the restaurant, I checked their hours posted out the door and indeed, I was right! Ooi’s dinner hour ends at 10PM!!! I am never going back again. We paid full price for their all you can eat and didn’t even receive the all you can eat food. Service was terrible and the waitress kept giving us the sign to hurry up and go.

THEY CALLED THE POLICE and had them show up at my door for a simple error when they failed to charge my card after I gave it to them. They lied and said we refused to pay called 911 for an error they made. We all attempted to pay they just didn't charge us

So we come order our food everytlhing is going fine until the bill came. 5 people in our party we all had sperate tabs. We went to pay they took our cards. 5mins go by they bring us our cards back assuming we all paid. So we walk out to the parking lot say our goodbyes about to leave. When this little waitress comes running out after us demanding we come back and pay our tabs. After she acuses me of trying to dine and dash we argue for a minute. I decide to go inside and find out what the hell is going on. I figured out that they didnt charge our cards and just gave them back to us with out realizing so i pay come out and go home. Some of our party had already left without knowing about this issue. 10mins later at home chillin when two clovis police officers are in my front yard and are accusing me and my party of attempting steal/dine and dash from ooi japanese restaurant. The fact that someone called the police and had them come to my house. To get the other names and phone numbers from our party so they could go back and pay. The fact that placed a fake 911 call to have the police come to my house over a bill less the 45$ is insane,...

waited for 15 mins to be seated. no one even acknowledged we walked in the door. Then this nice older lady comes from the back and seats us and the two other groups that came in after us. We sat down for 10 mins without anyone coming over for water or even menu ,we watched other people get seated quickly, get water and menus while we still hadn't been acknowledged. The group next to us waited 10mins for a check. There was a group that was seated by us after we had been there for 30mins that got water and a menu right away. I got up and got us menus after being looked over. Finally got the attention of a waitress she was nice enough. Asked for water and ordered a meal for the kid to get the kid fed. We finally get the kids meal and some fried tempura that was in bad shape. By this time the family that was seated about 30 minutes after us were all well into their meals. When I ordered the kids meal I also ordered 2rolls one was the chefs special ( crabmeat roll with tuna on top) no creativity at all that was really bad I didn't eat it.... After waiting for chopsticks or a fork and some wasabi. WE Left the place and no one even noticed.

Been here before didn't have this problem but this is the last time I will be going there. Management needs to be there watching the place or the employees that are there are going to pick and choose...
