We've ordered from this place 4 times within the past 6 weeks or so and the food is always really good. The customer service is always great as well. However, the past two times I've gone, there's been an issue when ordering the Brioche Stuffed French Toast, which I've gotten all 4 times. The menu description says "Two pieces, filled and topped with homemade cream fraiche, topped with fresh strawberries or blueberries and a blackberry sauce." The first two times, no issues. However, the third & fourth times, there is an extra charge for fruit! I spoke with a woman I'm assuming is the manager due to the extra charge. She repeatedly stated to me that the toast does not include fresh fruit. I showed her the menu which states fruit right in the description. She told me that means sauce, not fruit. What kind of stuffed french toast doesn't come with fruit? What is it stuffed with then? Answer: "sauce, ma'am." They need to change the description on the menu to reflect this or change the price to include the price with fruit. This was not an issue the first two times and now they must've changed it without updating the menus. I don't like being quoted one price online and another in the store then being treated like I'm the issue by wanting the store to honor the price stated both on their menu and in my emailed receipt. I have a really big issue with things costing more than the stated price, the menu needs to reflect that there is an extra charge for fruit or it needs to take fruit out of the description or it needs to change the price of the french toast to how much it costs with fruit. We will not be back for a...
Read moreMixed results here. We've eaten here before and had an excellent diner-style breakfast or lunch, but not so much today. They seem to be having problems with their staff - the wait staff was inattentive and it was hard to flag her down to place our order. When the food arrived, my companion's food was hot and crispy and tasty.
Mine wasn't.
The hash browns were limp and the corned beef hash was barely room temperature. While the flavor was excellent, the cool little lumps of gelid corned beef were off-putting. My suspicion is that someone assembled the dish from uncooked ingredients, put it under the broiler to heat the cheese and removed it, leaving the inside cold. Either that, or it was someone else's rejected order from earlier.
Unfortunately, I'd put ketchup on the dish before tasting it, so it couldn't be sent back to get warm. And, anyhow, there was no server to discuss it with. Finally, someone came by and asked about it and, when I reported the problem, just said "do you want anything else?" Answer: No, if the first dish isn't good or fixable, why would I want to buy anything else?
What to take away? If you go here, be prepared to check EVERYTHING for palatability and prep before letting the server leave your table because it will never be fixed. And it may...
Read morewhen the county judge ordered masks in June, Colleyville said they would not enforce it. this prompted my household to take business to Colleyville.
I went to Benny's for breakfast right when that started. the server at that time was a nice, polite lady that was one of the most pleasant dining experiences in a while.
so I wanted to go back just a few days later and give more business to Colleyville and to Benny's Cafe by meeting a friend there for breakfast.
I hadn't even made it all the way in the door when some latinx (sorry, honestly couldn't tell if they were male or female) started barking at me about a mask and pointing to the door, literally making a scene.
fine. I don't want any trouble so I left, nodding to my friend that was already seated that I'd waiting outside. my pal said while he was paying for his coffee that the latinx was mouthing off about the situation to patrons in a condescending manner.
whatever. if they changed their policy within those few days, that fine and dandy. but to make a big issue about it in front the entire cafe, when there are obviously more polite ways to have dealt with a customer.... too...
