I've posted our reciept here, to be honest, what we'd like most is a chance to return to Dat's Italian, to experience what could've been a great restaurant experience. To return however, we would need a couple of free entrées or drinks, as our first time there this evening was one of the worst value for dollar experiences we've ever had. Being a restaurant GM myself, I'd wager quite a few people called out this evening. Despite that, it was the behavior of one half of the serving staff that made things go beyond the restaurant dealing with a crappy situation, to really becoming the customers' problem. If I had to guess, that serving crew member was one of the managers, who I presume was having an absolute hell of a day, and I really do want to be sympathetic. However, when it comes to value, some major mistakes we're made. Firstly, we were pressured nonstop to place our orders, of which every normal step of drinks, then apps, then entrées, seemed a massive panicked inconvenience. I get stressing, but every single customer got curt somewhat mean, panicked service, culminating in our server literally getting an entire restaurant to be silent when he exclaimed to a table next to us, "I can only take your orders all at one time!" He got us silent when he pushed on us needing to order bread with our soup appetizer, that literally says comes with bread on the menu and saying it's all a le carte. The biggest mistake that led to this review, was the drink orders. Our server asks us if we need anything, we ask to order some drinks, he tells us it's too busy and he'll get our order in a bit. He straight up makes the same drinks we previously ordered, which we did not order or want, and instead of giving those as a complimentary 'sorry for the crazy service", he charges us for. 120$ for soup, bread, two entrées, and two drinks. All to be treated as an inconvenience. It stinks because ironically, we got in and out in an hour and fifteen. This guy had no reason to panic and be so manic. There was a woman hosting who kept her cool, was nothing but kind and fun, and seemed to have had the knowledge in dealing with understaffed or crazy services. The food seemed good, the portion sizes seemed pretty small and weak, but if the kitchen crew was dying, it makes sense. All in all, it could be a good restaurant, unless we get some of our next visit comped, we will never be back and not recommend it to anyone. No hard feelings to our server either, I'm sure it was a nightmare day for him, but why the heck should I pay 120$ plus tip to make that my problem? Sorry if that seems callous, but it really was a bad experience.

While searching for a place for dinner for Italian dining in around Colorado Springs all I was coming was the infamous chains. I then stumbled across this gem. Read owners were from Brooklyn and being from Boston knew I had to try. Just walking up to the restaurant you could smell the sweet aromic smells of the garlic and oils. We had a 7pm reservation but unfortunately with this whole Covid issue business in the neighborhood was down. We were able to be seated at 6:30. The host a very courteous man and owner seated us and let us know his wife who was busy at the window pushing out dishes was from Brooklyn as he picked up on my Bahston accent. After a few moments of being seated our drink and food order was taken and drinks arrived promptly. One pet peave of mine is refills. I will say staff is diligent in ensuring glass never emptied. We started off with 2 fresh warm bread loaves with oil. Perfect crispness to the crust with a soft warm center. For an app I did the caprese, the mozzarella was fresh with nice think crisp tomatoes served with oil and thick balsamic paste. We ordered the Pasta carbonara and the chicken white truffle pancetta. Both dishes the ingredients were fresh and full of flavor, clean the plate with the bread kinda goodness. Hell at this point we were stuffed! But there is no way you can not top off a awesome meal without trying their fresh homemade desserts. I went with the chocolate ganache cake and my guest had the Tiramisu. The cake was rich and chocolatey and on the moist side which was awesome. The Tiramisu he could not stop raving about the flavor and how good the lady fingers tasted. As far as price I would say its spot on for the quality and quantity. If I ever come back to the area this will definitely be a revisit. The family puts their heart and soul into their business and it shines through.

A great experience at this family-run authentic Italian restaurant! My boyfriend and I enjoyed an exceptionally lovely dinner at Dat's Italian. We were greeted by the owner, Mr. Trujillo, a very warm person who emanates hospitality. After introductions, he insisted we sit at "the romantic table", tucked back in the wall where the lighting was a little dimmer and we had such a nice romantic time. Ah, amore.... The walls are lined with old family photos and paintings of Italy's vineyards and such. It's a cozy place, very welcoming; where you could reminisce about how your grandmother made her pasta and hold hands, listening to a little Sinatra. Well. That's what we did, anyway. The food was a-ma-zing. Really. The shrimp on my entree, the shrimp carbonara, were done so perfectly, I had to go back and gush compliments at the chef. He said, "oh yeah, they were good, weren't they? I had to try one, they looked so good..." We even brought home dessert. The cannolis as delicious as everything else. Divine tiramisu. I'm not gonna lie, it's expensive, if you're on a modest budget like us. But if you're looking for a special night out - like our anniversary in our case - Dat's Italian will not disappoint. We would love to eat there again anytime. I believe reservations are strongly recommended.

Very tasty food, service was fantastic 1st 2 visits So went back today HORRIBLE- 1st off 1 server - 1 cook - Italian restaurant that makes you pay for bread (olive garden gives complimentary bread - joke is olive garden not real Italian. ) can't,make a cocktail but charge 7.00 for a cosmo that was cherry juice and vodka, salad served same time as the entrée, shrimp scampi had 3 shrimp TAILS ONLY and 3 WHOLE SHRIMP, I had to ask for lemon to add to my lemon butter sauce, chicken carbinaro had NO CHICKEN, lasagna was cold, menu's were stained with food, The menu's are out dated as my husband ordered veal (on the menu) but they don't serve it anymore. The owner stopped as she walked by and and asked how things were I didnt answer her as I just didn't know what to say and didnt want to cause a scene but my friends and I were well aware how she went into the kitchen and in the window where we all could hear went off about how rude I was and on and on about the problems she was having etc, I said nothing to her and no one at my table complained as we should have but WOW, also as we were leaving the female owner was out back still complaining out loud about how rude the customers were!!!!!! She tried to explain her behavior but there's no excuse for her at all. After my husband found out what the female owner did as the 3 of us told him he approached the male owner to let him know what his wife did and how the whole experience was completely unacceptable after waiting 45 min to be served and charged almost 100.00 for just our 2 meals, we will NEVER go back. We try to support local businesses but...
