Good bingsu, subpar food.
Although this place is labelled as being "Korean Fusion", it really just seems like overpriced inauthentic Korean food. Out of the couple dozen menu items, only 4 were actually some form of "Korean Fusion". I came here with my girlfriend (who is Korean and loves Korean food) and she ordered the pork belly. Not only was the portion size pitifully small, but according to her, they usually serve pork belly with charred garlic and lettuce to make sort of wraps out of. All she got was 8-10 tiny squares of pork belly, rice, and soup. No sides. It was nowhere near enough food for the high price. The pork belly itself was bland, it really disappointing. However, it did come with some sort of sauce that she thought was quite tasty, but not enough to sace the dish.
I ordered a spicy pork bulgolgi dish which was quite good. This included a small assortment of veggies, as well as decent portion sizes, but it overall didn't taste like bulgolgi that I've ever had, either home or restaurant made. Both of our dishes included soup that was pretty tasty.
It is worth noting that no sides besides rice and soup were included without paying $7, which is pretty unheard of for Korean restaurants, as these sides are nearly always included with the price of the meal, and served before the main course in a bunch of little bowls. The sides are traditional Korean dishes such as fish cakes, kimchi, Korean fruit salad, seasoned spinach and bean sprouts, etc. This is something we both always look forward to and I think it's so fundamental to the Korean experience that it's shocking not to see it not provided with the meal, even at a non-traditional Korean restaurant.
Now, in my opinion, the real reason to come here is the bingsu. Bingsu, as far as my understanding from asking, is a dessert made by freezing milk and then shaving that milk into a bowl, then adding toppings. It seems the milk is sugared a bit, which gives it a slight sweetness. We got the cotton candy one and it was quite tasty. It did have oatmeal in it though, which threw off the flavor. I just ate around it and it was delicious.
Overall I think the concept of this restarant is kinda neat, but the flavors in the dish pale in comparison to authentic traditional Korean food. This subpar food, in conjuction with having to pay $30+ just get a proper Korean meal with side dishes, left us not wanting to come back (except maybe for just bingsu). We can go get authentic Korean for 30% less cost and get a more substantive entree, better tasting food, AND side dishes included in the meal.
I honestly would've been pretty angry about the experience when you account for price, if the bingsu wasn't so on point. Korean food is just something that doesn't need be altered or made different to stand out like K-Bop does. We would probably have come here very frequently for food and bingsu if the food has just been good and...

Welcome to K Bop, where time stands still, food arrives cold, and the concept of service is a distant dream. If you ever wondered how a restaurant can turn a leisurely meal into an agonizing wait, K Bop has perfected this art form.
Our adventure began in a nearly deserted restaurant, with a grand total of eight diners, including our party. One might think a lack of customers would mean quicker service. Not at K Bop! We were left to ponder the mysteries of life for nearly an hour before our food finally arrived. I totally forgot that I even ordered. And by "finally arrived," I mean we could have hunted and cooked our own dinner in less time.
To add insult to injury, they managed to forget one of our orders entirely. When I asked about my Dolsot Bibimbap, which is supposed to be served sizzling hot, I was assured it was indeed the "hot" one. I had to check my pulse to make sure I wasn't the one with the temperature problem because this dish was as cold as the service. I didn’t hear any sizzle, I touched the bowl with my bare hands.
The Toppoki with cheese was another masterpiece of disappointment. The cheese wasn't melted, the rice cakes were room temperature, and the entire dish tasted like it had been left out. How do you mess up cheese and rice cakes? It’s a mystery that only K Bop seems capable of solving.
After having dined at countless Korean restaurants, I can confidently say that K Bop takes the cake. Not a single dish tasted good. NOTHING was hot or even warm. It was like being in a reverse land where all culinary standards had been turned upside down.
In conclusion, if you value your taste buds and sanity, steer clear of this culinary catastrophe. Save yourself the trouble and find another Korean restaurant where the food is hot, the service is timely, and the experience is, well, edible. I also find it very strange and odd that there’s a lot of four star reviews at this restaurant. But then I checked yelp and that’s where the real reviews were so either A. they are all people that they know or B. they are spending a lot of money...
Read moreFirst off, the bingsu is really good. But the service kinda just made me want to cry. Advice for the server there from someone who has also worked in the serving field. Before you come to the table to take drinks orders, food orders, whatever. Just bring waters. Just do it. It will really make a difference to your tips. Trust me.
We only asked for some water and bingsu. The waters never came, and the bingsu took forever. We waited and watched as other tables there before us finished their meals, ordered their desert, and had their bingsu brought out before ours. Despite the fact we ordered ours first. I'm fairly positive the server even brought our bingsu to the wrong table right next to ours. But rather than apologize or acknowledge it, they just brought out my husband's Oreo bingsu and I waited for probably 10-15 minutes before they brought mine. Which they then proceeded to try to give to the wrong table, who said it wasn't theirs.
It was so disappointing to sit and watch my husband eat his bingsu (he tried to share, but I wanted to save my appetite for mine) and then only have mine come out 5 minutes after he finished his own. The server walked by our table multiple times refilling others drinks and cleaning tables, but never even acknowledged us or said "Hey, your bingsu us in it's way!" And then once we had finally finished our deserts, we waited and waited, but we were forced to flag down the server for our bill.
I just feel like even if you're crashed with customers, acknowledging that you're crashed and apologizing goes a long way rather then completely ignoring people. If that makes you uncomfortable as a server, then just lie and say you're brand new because everyone will give you the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, despite the delicious desserts we probably won't come back to this place due to the...
