Best Mexican food in the Springs! Family owned and they treat you like family too. After about your fourth visit, the owners and their sons start to remember you and ask you personal questions. I couldn't believe they remembered things about me they did but was impressed at how caring and genuine they are. As I said above, best Mexican food in Colorado Springs too. The avocado pork taco destroys just about everything else you'll ever taste, the enchiladas are awesome, and the avocado pork burrito with green chili is spicy and delicious. Their standard beef taco in a crispy shell sets the standard for what a hard taco should be, and their salsa is hands down the best I have ever had. It is not a chunky salsa but it is perfect on top of anything they serve you and they give you an entire bottle with your order. I'm not even ashamed to say that I have almost used an entire bottle too (although they should probably charge me for it). The owners are two of the most genuine people you will ever meet and they make their way to every table (if they have time) and engage is thoughtful conversation and make you feel welcome. The horchata is delicious and the owner drives to Denver to get the 500ml Mexican coke in the glass bottles as well. Do yourself a favor and go get some amazing food there and remember to bring cash and don't be a cheapskate and tip them in addition to your order...they work hard and...
Read moreOverall, less than average experience. Here are the reasons for the two stars.
Top 5 reasons: ONLY Cash Restaurant Undercooked Tamales Bland Slasa (Red) Lack of items (Salsa Verde, Carne Asada, etc.) Not able to make order requests (Meat well done because it's already prepared)
If you don't have cash on hand to dine here, then don't bother stopping by because there is also not an ATM available.
The tamales were undercooked and the masa was still wet and soggy. This is not a desirable experience, trying to cut around the undercooked portions to eat what was cooked. Even after I returned the tamale, they gave me another undercooked tamale. The QA/QC of the food should be done before giving it to the customer.
They are not able to make any meats well done and they are served "AS IS", guessing since it's an inconvenience or will not accommodated for customers.
No Salsa Verde or Carne asada available and there are normally found at a typical Mexican restaurant, especially an "Aunthentic" Mexican restaurant.
The meats and Salsa need seasoning and can't be covered with garnishment or salsa to substitute...
Read moreThe atmosphere is ridiculous 🙄the paint is bright orange😐, one has to order at a counter that coincides with the kitchen. The menu that rotates so fast that you must keep your eyes on the menu or lose out!🙄Sorry to say but the food sucks!, in other words, the stacked enchiladas were covered with hamburger chili, filled with animal fat and way too much cumin😒(The green chili was spicy although very watery and bland! The price for one individually packed enchilada plastic containers(lame) was 8.99, green chili 5.99 for a bowl, steamed tortillas, just yuck! The prices way too expensive especially for the poor customer service, and the way the food was prepared! I will never waste a dime here and I do not recommend Salsa Latina to anyone especially anglos who wouldn't know the difference LOL although some may cook better than this cook@Salsa Latina, (for real!)On top of that we had to pay for a parking meter! CAPTAIN D'S would of been way better. Again I do not recommend this place to Latinos...
