This is one of the Springs hidden gems in the downtown Tejon Street socializing district. Tucked away in a well-lit and publicly traversed alley with plenty of parking within a block or two, you'll want to cast aside your Shame when you arrive here because you'll have no Regrets when you wake up tomorrow. Absolutely beautiful interior with oversized real-life artwork that has whimsical over/under tones that are really one of the best accompaniments for the oak-paneled walls. The well-worn antique chandeliers dispersed among the ceiling's nooks and crannies of this incredibly low key establishment just are one more design feature that could transport you back to New York City's Prohibition-era Speak-Easy's or to a "turn-of-the-20th-Century" western European, city center, upper scale drinking establishment. The staff and owner were very inviting, professional and obviously customer service focused. I was shown into a fully enclosed, capacity overload room that was decorated in the same style as the main rooms which it can be reserved alone for your smaller, private gatherings or the entire establishment can be privately yours during the upcoming holiday season or other upcoming special events. Yes, of course, they offer drinks and cocktails using primarily Top-Shelf spirits, liqueurs and mixers and there is a pub food menu available to satisfy your gastric needs while there. Great little hideaway lounge down an alley that I never would have found on my own if it hadn't been for Google maps suggesting it. Kind of tightly packed in there but the bar was plenty open for me to sit and order a drink and plate of food. I tend to order an old fashioned at most lounges I go to and make my judgement on the quality of that drink first. It was made properly without being overly sweet which is often a problem for lounges when they make an OF. The hummus plate was pretty standard mi suspect it was from a jar so that makes it pretty hard to mess up when the only thing accompanying it is sliced veggies and some bread, but nonetheless I was happy to have a lite fare option available. The stand out though was my bartender. I'm remiss to say I dont remember her name but she was absolutely lovely! Despite being constantly busy in a packed lounge, she frequently checked on me to make sure I had whatever I needed and she was in a great mood the entire time I watched her rushing around behind the bar. I can only assume this means she loves her job which definitely shows in how she interacts with customers. Highly recommend checking this place out!

EXCELLENT COCKTAILS RESERVED SERVICE My wife and I dropped by here for a pre-dinner cocktail. The first thing that meets us is a sign stating to wait to be seated. So we stop and wait. The female bartender is chatting away with a male customer not paying any attention to us. Suddenly somebody yells out that we can seat our selves …. So we do. Pretty strange way to treat customers. We got water and after checking the menu ordered our two cocktails. The bar is dark with a cool vibe - kind of made strange to be strange in a good way. We really loved the setting. Fits well with the almost hidden entrance. The cocktails were awesome. So, go here for cocktails but bear with the service staff - I believe it all comes back to the owner and/or managers - they set the tone. So not really the service staff’s fault. Could have been 5 stars.

I would have loved to give this place a better rating but what a let down. The two star rating is for the atmosphere alone. Shame & Regret is a great name as it is a shame that this place could be so much better and regret for even stepping foot in this place. The low down: My friend and I stopped in here a week ago and upon entering it was empty one person sitting at the bar. Two ladies behind the bar one starring at us like what are we doing and the other starring at her fingers. We were confused not sure if they were closing and if we should enter into the establishment any further. As we slowly approach the bar the lady starring at us tells the other girl she is leaving and they start talking to each other. So far other than just glaring at us they didn't even acknowledge us. We stand and wait looking at each other with a bit of confusion on whether we should just leave. We are at the bar at this point looking at these ladies and thinking what is going on here? One of the lady's leave my friend gets the other lady's attention as she still was not even attending to us and there was literally know one else in the bar other than one person that had a drink. My friend said excuse me are you closing? The lady with no expression walks toward us and says no do you need something? At this point we are both like what did we just walk into and is it worth even dealing with at this point. We just wanted a cocktail the thing that pretty much everyone is walking in here for. By far some of the worse service I have had in the Springs. It seems to be a standard in this area to treat your customers poorly. Definitely will not be going back to this establishment...

Shame and Regret that may be the name of this place but that's definitely not the feeling you get when entering or leaving. The only regret I felt was not finding this place sooner. This local nightlife bar has all the ingredients of 5 star establishment. This bar is everything you could ask for.

Shame and Regret has a Gothic Victorian vibe with it's low light, twisted art, secluded seating and soulful menu. It's the perfect spot for a romantic date night or if you are into that Hinge/Tinder app this is a perfect spot to have a first casual encounter.

My experience last night was above and beyond my expectations in food, service and atmosphere. Emily was behind the bar slinging drinks and what I find refreshing is conversing with the bar patrons. It's a refreshing feeling when you feel welcomed as a guest and not just a dollar. While I had the pleasure of being served by Keely, I was never forgotten and checked on regularly to make sure my experience was pleasant and enjoyable. There is that fine line they have down here not being overly checked on or completely forgotten.

The menu is that of simplicity yet powerfully delicious. I ordered the meatballs in a chimmichurri sauce that was out of this world. Even if the rest of the place was sub-par I would go back just for these. I asked about a dessert and it sounds like it's in the works so I am looking forward to coming back and seeing what new creations come from this shameful regret.

This is definitely a new hot spot to check out. You...
