Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Columbus

ZERO STARS : My niece and I visited the Brice road location on 11/11/2022 at approximately 7:30 pm and we both were totally disgusted and appalled at what we witnessed. She arrived 10 minutes ahead of myself and was told there was a 30 minute wait despite the restaurant having less than 10 patrons. We were told we couldn’t sit at the bar; which only had a few other guests seated there. After questioning it we were permitted to sit at bar to order drinks but no food. 40 minutes passed and we asked about our table. We were told we still had 20 minutes. Again I questioned it and after this person, an AA male who appeared under the influence, went to the back to “speak with manager” he came back and said his watch was wrong and seated us at a table in a section completely empty except a female employee who was half lying down at the last booth arguing and crying with someone on the phone. Once she hung up she just sat for the entire time we were there. We witnessed 4 employees go to her to ask her what was wrong and if she was alright. Not one employee ever came to our table to offer water etc. We only had menus because they gave them to us at the bar; from which we couldn’t order. Frustrated with the hour wait and absolutely no contact with anyone except the bartender we left; still hungry. Another group of people that had came in not long after us left for the same reasons. They had not even been given menus. We did observe one single Caucasian server doing what he was supposed to do in his section with the few customers he had. Whoever owns this location needs to shut it down. There were more employees walking around doing nothing then customers. Several young men (employees) had on sagging pants with their nasty underwear showing. The best part of the visit was the drink. It was one of the holiday specials. The bartender was attentive and made sure our drinks were to our satisfaction. She was truly the only professional we dealt with in that rat hole last night. Kudos to her for putting up with such management and coworkers. I’m not sure how she is motivated to report to work in such a deplorable atmosphere. We will not be returning and have told family and friends about our experience. In hindsight we now know why the parking lot was so empty on a Saturday night. Apparently others already know what we just found out. That location is deplorable and is giving the brand a horrible stain on its reputation. Don’t waste your time visiting...

We will never go back to this Applebee's again. It started off with the waitress having no clue what French dressing was and it went down hill from there. After waiting 20 minutes I had to ask her when our salads would be coming our mind you our server had us and two other families to attend to so it wasnt like it was super busy or anything. Since we waited so long for just the salads I asked her if we could get some breadsticks and she did fine with those they were hot and tasted great Well at least another 30 minutes went by and they finally bought out my daughter's and my food but not my husband's our waitress was no where to be seen for a while finally after a half an hour she said the ran out of ribs and his food would be right out believe me it was not right out and when he finally received it the steak was well done and the ribs were like shoe leather. Keep in mind too that my daughter and I already finished our dinners before he received his. In my opinion the manager should have came to our booth way before this but she did come when my husband complained about the food. The manager was nice but looked completely unprofessional most Applebee's managers look well put together this one looked as if she could be holding a work for food sign on a street corner. I know that is harsh but it the truth. I went to the restroom and it was gross as I walked pass the kitchen all you heard was loud yelling and laughing. This is the worst Applebee's I have ever been to and I have been to many and they were all a very positive experience. The manager did take my husband's meal and two desserts off our bill but I would've rather paid our full bill if we were served in a timely matter and the food was correctly cooked than go through what we did at...

So upon walking in, there were two young ladies lookin at the seating chart and neither of them acknowledged us. A third young lady appeared shortly after, and got us seated. Our waitress Kristen M, got our drink orders pretty fast, then she took our food order...two entrees and an appetizer. After waiting for 20 minutes we realized we came on a Friday evening, but it was a little after 8pm so things shouldn't be too terrible. Wrong, we asked a random waitress where our appetizer was and she informed Kristen that we hadn't received anything after waiting for now close to 30 minutes. She took swift action to reconcile the issue by offering a complementary specialty drink and talking to the kitchen staff. Now 40ish minutes after we order, we are greeted by Elaina the manager who attentively listen to us tell her the situation. She immediately addressed the young women in front and before we knew it we had our food on the table. After getting to talk to Kristen and Elaina about how unhappy we were about the service, they really turned a bad dining experience into an enjoyable one. We really have to applaud Kristen for her efforts and everything she did seeing as it was her second day. She was extremely responsive and didn't let the situation get the best of her. Elaina also was very responsive and I think the best part was when she came to talk, she got on our level. she didn't stand over us and spew a bunch of fake apologies or try to dismiss the problem. She listened, understood, addressed the situation and took actions immediately. We probably won't go back on a Friday night, but we would return only because those two women were able to turn our experience...
