I ate yesterday [5-21-2019] at Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus for a completely unusual reason.
I had been walking past this restaurant during the middle evening on 5-20-2019 [it had still been light outside but had been getting dark]. The blue lights on the bottom of the marquee had been particularly bright when compared with the decreasing skylight so I had decided to stop and take a picture of that restaurant for Google Maps.
I don't like to post pictures to Google Maps without also writing something about that location so I decided to return to Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus in the near future and to eat there.
Eating there yesterday at 11:30 a.m. worked out perfectly for me because my previous appointment, a meeting at the office of a U.S. Congressional Representative in a different part of downtown, had ended at 11:00 a.m.
When I had first arrived at Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus, they had been nearly empty in the front room [where I had been seated]. However, within the next fifteen minutes or so, people started to rush in; the place had been nearly completely packed by 11:45 a.m.
My server later told me that many people from AEP and other nearby companies always eat there during the traditional "lunch hour."
I ordered and ate a "Thai Beef Tenderloin" salad [mixed greens, white cheddar, carrots, tomatoes, peanuts, soy honey sautéed beef, ginger vinaigrette]; that item had been absolutely delicious.
In spite of the restaurant having been extremely crowded and noisy when I had been preparing to leave, my server had noticed that I had completed my meal perhaps forty seconds after I had put down my fork. Within a few minutes, I had paid my bill and had been on my way to...
Read moreI am fortunate enough to have been on the opening staff of this wonderfully exquisite establishment. Aside from the delicious food and delightful service, it is GORGEOUS inside! Elevator was the first brewery in Columbus to implement N2O for Stouts (my personal fave) and Nitrogen is said to lessen your hangover the next day. Every beer I've ever tried there is excellent. They have also managed to keep all the original tile in the entrance, bar area, and front of the restaurant; all the wood and mirrors on the bar; the rail on the bar; and the "trough" under the bar stools. I believe they managed to keep and restore an original pool table as well. This place has fantastic history and has greatly influenced the night life reinvention of downtown! Located in the old "Clock Tower" building it is said to be haunted, which is originally why I applied! LOL I am highly sensitive to "spirtitual activity" and I didn't feel anything but love there! (Except when I waited on that Ekoostik Hookah, they ATTEMPTED to lowball me on my tip after I treated them like royalty and ran my buns off for stupid things. They're what we called "runners" back in the day, those who make you come back for one thing at a time.) Oh! I forgot to mention that you can cook your own steak (though I don't eat steak) RIGHT AT YOUR TABLE on a stone! In addition to the magnificent array of beers on tap, they have a decent wine list as well as may top shelf liquors! Even if you don't drink, this place is DEFINITELY worth checking out! Did I happen to mention the DESSERTS ALONE make it worth checking out? They also have an excellent dessert chef on staff and have had one since day one! I need...
Read moreI MUST SHARE THIS RIDICULOUS EXPERIENCE! I seen this place on restaraunt week and always wanted to go. So my friend and I arrive at exactly at 9 40pm (check cameras) tonight July 17th 2019... My friend and I stood there for a good 7mins as a women cleaned off tables in the far back. She walked straight up to us and immediately asked us if we wanted the restaraunt week menu. We said yes and she told us we can order food but NOT from that menu because the kitchen was going to close in 10 mins. So I had her repeat herself to make sure I was hearing correctly. I can order any and everything I want but I cant order the prefix meal that you have advertised. I wasted my gas to make it to this place to be sent away. I already felt what she was doing. By seeing us walk into this establishment and cleaning for so long. But my question is simply why? What was the problem. Why was it so easy to do two paying customers like that. I felt pretty awful because clearly she did not want us there and there were people sitting down eating and not going to run out the door in 10 mins. Again to recap... she was adamit in saying she did not have enough time to give us the 3 items on the special menu but could get us any and everything else smdh.... I could have ordered 12 items at full price and it's just ashame because I am a big foodie and food blogger and would have loved to write a better review on my ig. But NOPE this is all I have.
