Gave this place a try last week. Reservations easy to make and they had tables open for an early (6:30) Saturday night. Visually, I don't think this place knows what it wants to be - club, sports bar, or restaurant. TV's everywhere, a long oval bar that seats close to 40 people, bass-heavy club music, and interesting greenery hanging from the ceiling. It is definitely not a sit-down meal place even though with the prices they are trying to be.
We were seated in the middle of one of two seating areas. The seats were very cushy, so much so that the table ended up being a little higher than expected.
Our dinks were good, but it is difficult to find something other than a vodka-based drink, obviously their bar is focused on a 20-something crowd. I stuck to a glass of wine (about a 3 oz pour for $11), the wife to a bubbly concoction. The Short rib bao buns as an appetizer were good, but a bit juicy, so much so that the bao buns had almost disintegrated through by the time they got to the table. Both of ours fell apart when we picked them up out of the great presentation.
Main food-wise, the wife had the teriyaki salmon and I had the blackened shrimp. Her salmon was good, came with both teriyaki and another sauce and she said it was cooked a little closer to well/medium well.
My blackened shrimp could best be described as shrimp in a mediocre spicy alfredo sauce. The shrimp were obviously sautéed without an effort to blacken them and the spice combination was nothing close to a creole flavor. In addition, the shrimp were mixed in with the underlying pasta (which was well past al dente). Certainly edible, but not worth the cost of the dish ($28).
All told, the total bill of a shade over $100 for two drinks, an appetizer and two mains was a bit much for what was presented. Most certainly not heading back there again, even for a...
Read moreI've been to many "chic" restaurants around the world, and Galla Park Social is not one of them. To start, we made reservations and were barely greeted by the hostess, we had to wait 30 minutes for our table, we waited another 20 minutes to have a waiter coming to our table, and we struggled hearing each other since the music was loud. We waited another 15 minutes for our drinks and another 15 minutes for the waiter to come back and take our orders. The food arrived after another 30 minutes, and it was disgusting. The flavor was flat, the food was cold, not fresh at all, and the presentation was poor. You can tell the kitchen was busy, and they were just throwing the food on the plates for the sake of getting it out, but they would stand there waiting to be taken to the tables. After about an hour, we didn't have drinks, and the waiter told us they ran out of the desserts we ordered. They only had "something else", and unfortunately, we couldn't hear because at that time, a DJ showed up who had absolutely no clue how to create an ambiance, he doesn't even know how to mix music. The place became darker, apparently into a club, since a bunch of teenagers started to enter. By the time we were ready to leave, we couldn't find our waiter, we reached out to the manager and he wasn't even able to help us because he couldn't hear us at all, so ignored us. The waiter came with dry burned deserts and waited for another 30 minutes for our checks. All of our checks were wrong, 2 of our friends didn't receive their checks and literally had to wait at the hostess stand, while the music became louder. The bottle girls were not friendly and started kicking us out since they needed the tables for their VIP area (haha, pathetic). I will never come back...
Read moreUpdate This place has reached out and has offered a generous gift card to make up for the issues at the event. It takes a good business to own up to their opportunities and to offer to extend a future better experience at their establishment. So for that I updated their stars. Thank you and much respect... Our NYE plans fell through and we saw they still had NYE tickets. They offered their cheapest package for $125 each, an "open bar", appetizers, and party favors plus early entry. So we got there a little before 9 and they sat us pretty quickly at the bar. Fantastic. We grabbed a couple drinks and waited. Asked the bartender when the appetizer service began and she said she didn't know, open bar was not open bar, but 4 to 6 drinks ....but it would be tray service. We ordered an app cause we were hungry and didn't wanna wait. No big deal. Fast forward to 11pm.an hour before new year. We paid $125 each (three of us) and there was no food offered as promised, no party favors as advertised and it legit took 35 min to an hour to get served cause the place was slammed due to them letting in general admin. The only people who got top service were the actual bottle service people.if you're gonna a charge $125 each and advertised free food and champagne toast then maybe you should give a separate area from general admission. Cause we paid $250 for absolutely nothing besides a seat at the bar and 6 drinks (that's not open bar). We got stuck with the one guy on our side that was just so annoyed he had to be there that he made the experience even more unbearable. You legit should be ashamed foe how you treated the $125 min people, but I doubt you rally...
