WOW! It is January 2023, and the call I received back from the Co.Lab Hair salon owner, Kate, today makes me feel like it is January 1963. Two weeks ago, I consulted with a representative Leigh in the salon; my hair was naturally curly at the appointment, and I showed her and the owner a photo of the desired color. Leigh quickly educated me on the process, which I appreciated. We decided on a two-phased approach, and I agreed to start with just an overall color and return for highlights at a separate time. They asked me to schedule an appointment after the consult, and I decided to schedule at another time. After attempting to schedule an appointment today, the owner, Kate, told me that they would not service me due to the TEXTURE of my hair and suggested I go elsewhere for this basic color service. This was hurtful and not the same message I received on the day of the consult. In addition, while searching for an explanation on why she could not service me, she called me a "liar" because she didn't believe that the sun had lightened parts of my hair. I found this word choice abrasive and inappropriate. During our conversation, I realized that her unwillingness to service me had nothing to do with my hair but a deeper underlying message that she was trying to convey. It is very disappointing that a business in the Short North believes this is an okay way to treat a potential customer. I suggest this salon revamp its website to state the type of hair they want to service and clearly state, “Have textured hair?...
Read moreI am a first time hair coloring client. When I first talked with Sara she really eased my mind about highlighting my hair for the very first time. She listened to exactly what I wanted and also threw some suggestions in there based off of what I wanted and my habits of actually getting myself to the salon. We decided for the first time on a full blond highlight and a root stretch (because I'm not the kind of person who DOES NOT get my hair done on a regular basis). It turned out AMAZING. It was very natural and blended and the root stretch was totally worth it because I could get away with going a while without having that ugly harsh line at my root. I've since then gone back and went a little bit blonder with a partial highlight. Even with this she still did a great job of blending it and making it look extremely natural. Pictures listed are after my second partial. I will never go anywhere else to get my hair done. Sara and Co.lab are...
Read moreI can't say enough about the fantastic service and exceptional work by the rockstar team at CO.LAB. I have been seeing Ross since a friend recommended him way back when he rented space in Clintonville, and Lane has been cutting my hair since he joined the team a few years ago (I think I was his first cut!). Lane is super friendly, makes great recommendations, and no matter what questionable or impulsive hair decisions I bring to him, I always leave the salon looking and feeling fantastic! The team takes COVID seriously and offers the same great experience while taking measures for the safety of themselves and their guests. The new salon in the Short North is stylish, inviting, and in a great location. Ross, Lane, Kate, Cortney and the whole crew at CO.LAB are really the best in the business - Congrats to the whole team on...
