Good service, but mediocre lunch at dinner prices.
If there was two words to describe my overall experience at the Easton Northstar Cafe, they would be the same ones I would give a three legged horse finally finishing a race or a cat in a youtube video not quite managing to make their jump onto a dresser: 'You tried'
First, the good. The service was excellent. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Also, the ambience was easy going and very pleasant; overall accomplishing its goal of casual relaxation. I did like the aesthetics of the propeller-like ceiling fans.
Next, the meh. The food was thoroughly average. I was there for lunch and ordered the Chicken Thai Burrito with wild rice, while my fellow dining patron had the chicken and avocado sandwich. While the portions were large enough to compare to a Chipotle dish, they cost almost twice as much. In addition, they was nothing in either dish that can not be quickly made in the comfort of your own home.
My burrito had about four mcnuggets worth of chicken, two in each half. The rest of it was stuffed with a filler of brown rice and pad thai flavored carrots and peanuts. The wild rice did have tiny formerly freeze-dried blueberries in it, which I actually personally like. The entire dish was served at room temperature with only the chicken being slightly warm, because it is a cafe, I suppose. In the future, an option to have it warmed in a panini press would be well appreciated.
The chicken avocado sandwich consisted of a less than expected amount of chicken, about half an avacado, chopped salad in a ranch sauce, on a large buttered bun. Once again, only the chicken was somewhat warm while the rest was served at room temperature. With the side dish, it would cost about $2-$3 to make at home. It sold for about 6x that with tip. A great value, it was not.
In summary, Northstar Cafe Easton provides a pleasant dining experience and great staff, but with average, somewhat...
Read moreI have to say that I was impressed. The menu is large with lota of great options, the staff seem really nice, and the building is very ascetic. Lots of big windows filling the building with smooth natural light. My food arrived very fast to my table and looked quite nice. They also have huge cookies and some good wines if you're into that.
I ordered the veggie burger. Am I a normally veggie burger kinda guy? Heck no. Am I a vegan? No way. Am I a vegiterian? Nope. I usually try and stay as far away from that kind of thing as possible. So that gives you a kinda perspective on my expectations of said veggie burger that I ordered. Why then, you ask would I even get it if I honestly wasn't really interested in that kind of thing? Well, it was earth day and they were giving out FREE veggie burgers. So, naturally, I decided to get one.
I honestly can say that I was impressed. It tasted nothing at all like a burger or meat, but I guess they aren't trying to copy normal burgers. They seem to be making something new and different. And it tasted good. Would I choose it again over a normal burger? Probably not. Would I eat it again if it was offered? Yeah, probably I would. It honestly had very good flavor and was pretty filling. The chips and salsa that came along with it were a nice touch.which I enjoyed. The large cookie was good, but honestly kind of disipointing. Overall though, I was happy with the meal.
I'm giving it a 4/5 stars because I enjoyed and liked my experience, but not quite loved it. I would recommend checking this place out. (Heads up, the menu is kind of pricey.)
Thanks...
Read moreNorthstar Cafe at Easton Town Center in Columbus Ohio is a great place to eat and has okay accessibility for anyone with a disability. There are wheelchair accessible parking spaces within the parking lot right next to the restaurant, and a wheelchair accessible ramp and entrance to get into the cafe and sidewalks are all pretty Level and wide around the cafe to enter. Once inside the restaurant, there are 2 levels of the restaurant with seating on each, but the upper level is not accessible to anyone in a wheelchair as the only way to get up is by stairs. The cafe has roomie access inside for anyone in a wheelchair to get around and find seating, but there are lots of tables and chairs that may make maneuvering through the restaurant more difficult. There are individual menus to the right wall when you enter, but no brail for anyone that may be blind and cannot read the menu. Waiters also give you a number after you order that you set at your table, and food is brought to you so anyone that may not be able to hear well does not have to worry about hearing their name called to pickup their food. Fountain drinks are located conveniently on a lower table with cups for easy access for anyone to reach as well, but could be lowered more for even better access. There is also an outdoor seating area that can be accessed easily. Overall, there are lots of varieties of foods and diet options here to accommodate everyone. Northstar is overall accessible to many to eat at, but there could be more accommodations put in place to make it accessible to other...
