This review is for our waitress tonight, Ava S. I'd like to preface this by saying that I've worked in the food service industry myself and have always been committed to tipping at least 20%, regardless of the overall quality of service or food, in recognition of the challenges faced by those in this field. Additionally, I've never previously felt compelled to write a negative review, but tonight's experience necessitates an exception. Let me tell you why. To begin with, the food itself was amazing. However, the service offered by our waitress, Ava S, was rather horrible. From the moment she approached our table, her demeanor was off-putting. Her initial interaction with us was filled with attitudes of annoyance and unfriendliness. Initially, I thought I might be overthinking things, as we had never met before, but her demeanor persisted throughout the evening. Despite Ava's attitude, we maintained our politeness and respect, understanding the challenges of working in a busy restaurant during peak dinner hours. We proceeded to enjoy the various delectable meat offerings that were continuously brought to our table by the meat-slicing attendants, whose service was impeccable and left us with no complaints. Here's where things took an interesting turn. Feeling quite hungry when we walked in and having eaten quickly, my partner and I decided to take a short break. We turned our table card to red, sipped our drinks, and engaged in conversation, allowing our meal to settle before resuming. At this point, only about 35 minutes had passed since our arrival. However, Ava approached our table and said "do you want your bill?" maintaining the same grimace we had observed earlier. This took us aback, as we were only drinking water and having a nice conversation going. Politely, we declined and informed her that we were awaiting the next round of food. To our surprise, she remained silent and continued to wear the same uninviting expression and walked away. It's worth noting that throughout the evening, she had never once asked if we needed anything, not even refilling our water. Assuming she was extremely busy, we decided to overlook this and figured that if we needed assistance, we could simply flag her down. The final straw occurred when we were ready to settle the bill. I made eye contact with Ava, who was standing just a few feet away at the bar. I raised my arm to signal her over. She then walked towards us and when she was less than a foot away, I said, "Hi, we're ready for the bill." Astonishingly, she averted her gaze and walked past our table to greet a newly seated party behind us. This was an uncomfortable moment, as I had spoken loudly to ensure she heard me, yet she blatantly ignored us. My boyfriend was equally astounded by her behavior. This incident left me genuinely shocked, as any reasonable person would be. At this point, it was evident that Ava had a distinct aversion towards us. My boyfriend went to the restroom, and I waited, scrolling through my phone. Suddenly, Ava approached me from behind and said, "You said you wanted your bill, right?" It was then clear that she had heard me all along but had chosen to ignore us. Although I was quite pissed at the moment, I simply said "yes" because there was no point in fighting an unhappy waitress who seemed to hate us. I just wanted to leave ASAP. Ava brought the bill to our table and quickly walked away without further interaction. I inserted my card, and when she returned it with a somewhat friendly "thank you," I made a decision that I had never before made in my life—I left a $10 tip on our $100 bill. In truth, I had briefly considered leaving no tip at all, but out of basic human decency and respect, I opted to leave something. That concludes our dining experience. If Ava happens to come across this review, I sincerely hope that she reflects on her behavior and strives to overcome whatever personal challenges may be affecting her interactions with customers. I wish her a more positive and...
Read moreWe love TDB and we have been to several in several states. This is our “home” location and we’ve been here probably 10 times. Stopped in for lunch yesterday and had a terrible experience.
The moment we walked in the restaurant, it reeked of sewage. Apparently it was the building above them. But still…. We almost left. Wish we would have.
Our waitress didn’t ask us how we liked our meat, and it’s the first time I’ve never been asked. After a few minutes, the guys came out with meat and we got our plates filled up in about 2 minutes because it was us and one other table there. The problem? Every single beef option was WELL DONE. Chewy and dry. If you love well done, this was the meal for you. I can assure you that I do not. I want to reiterate: we were not asked our preference or told they only had well done meat for lunch. My wife will only eat medium well and the steak was too overcooked for her! The bacon wrapped chicken was also so dry. Ate as much of the first run of meat as we could. The flank steak was decent. Sirloin and Tri Tip were so overcooked I couldn’t eat.
By the time they came out again, I asked them for medium rare or medium. They walked back to get some meat that was actually juicy and not extremely overcooked. In this time, our waitress took a break from hanging with at the bar and refilled our drinks one time. She didn’t ask if there was any meat we would like (like every other time I’ve been at TDB).
We filled up with overcooked meat (and one good run of flank steak and sirloin) and then we waited. Waited. Waited. Waited. Had to have been 15-20 min we waited for our bill. I flagged down someone to find get our waitress to bring us the check.
The manager stopped by and I told him everything that had happened. He just said he was sorry and looked so scared that someone was being truthful with him about how horrible of an experience it was. He didn’t seem at all concerned with how we just wasted a pretty insane amount of money for lunch! We were just trying to do a nice lunch for our anniversary and it was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
We won’t be back to this one ever again. This is the second time we’ve had horrible service at lunch time here. Glad they just opened Fogo de Chao in Polaris.
Note the absence of any juice on the plate I...
Read moreEXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCE
I visited this restaurant 10 days ago to celebrate my birthday. I made the reservation in advance and clearly mentioned it was for a birthday celebration. However, nobody informed me about their "birthday discount" until I finished my meal and saw it printed on the receipt, stating that registering as a member could offer a birthday discount. When I politely asked the server and later the manager why no one informed me about this discount, the manager responded rudely, arrogantly saying, "We have no obligation and it's impossible to inform every guest about this discount." While I understand they can't inform every guest, they clearly knew it was my birthday—so why deliberately avoid mentioning it? The manager’s attitude was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful, leaving me feeling undervalued and disappointed on a special occasion.
INCONSISTENT SERVICE & TERRIBLE ATTITUDE
Tonight, just 10 days later, I experienced yet another unfair treatment. When I asked to pack some complimentary bread (which I have done every single visit in the past year, totaling around 10 visits), the server and the manager both rudely insisted that they "never allow" packing complimentary bread. This was shocking because, in every previous visit, the staff proactively offered to pack bread for me—sometimes even suggesting two portions to ensure it was enough. Last time, our group of four each received free takeaway bread. If this has always been against their policy, why did the staff consistently encourage and offer it previously? Either management is unaware of what their staff are doing, or they're selectively enforcing rules, both of which reflect poorly on the restaurant. Even worse, tonight I clearly saw a server handing a takeaway box to another table—yet when confronted, I knew the manager would dismiss it as something "paid extra for." I did not wish to argue further, but I am incredibly frustrated and insulted by this unfairness and inconsistency.
As someone who has visited this establishment nearly ten times in the past year, these recent experiences have completely changed my view. I will never return, nor will I recommend this place to anyone else. Especially DO NOT come here for your birthday—it will ruin your...
