I will give this place another try in the future, but my experience wasn’t the best. I think serving lamb is a bit risky when you have a big menu that’s bound to drive down quality control, and so if you’re going to serve lamb amongst so many other choices make sure it’s great and don’t let the quantity of dishes overshadow the quality! It’s was medium well maybe well done, and if you know lamb it’s meant to be at least medium. I thought it was okay. I thought the chicken croquettes served with chilled spicy roccoto sauce had the feel of being a bit “pre made” and the cold sauce sort of muted out it’s flavor and it was not particularly spicy either, the center was quite hot and outside cool, indicating re heated. The plantain and guava jam was simple and about what you’d expect from a plantain dish, the spicy potato were the most savory somehow and really pretty good. The menu is large like most tapas restaurants, that’s the point right? The restaurant is a bit gritty, it’s over a night club which smells like pot, fine, but you can definitely hear their music feel the bass and smell the party. The restaurant itself is a bit worn, but not lacking in character. I think they could stand to invest in renovating floors and cleaning tables up, they’re plenty busy from what I can tell. Some small touches, in what is clearly a hard working restaurant of kind people. Service really wasn’t fantastic either, it was all around okay, our server seemed perturbed we asked for a dash of extra simple in drinks (we felt like a sweet touch that evening) then also asked me why I wanted the cocktail I ordered which was a spin on an old fashion. That was certainly a curious exchange!
I would go back, to try more, a different night, new server etc. maybe w hen the sun is shining. I think the establishment below is just bad luck for them. But as a business owner myself I know there are steps that can always be taken to improve the experience and aesthetic, flavor and service. It costs money to make money. That’s commitment to your...
Read moreNot professional at all. I came in asked for seating for 2 and the hostess said she’d check upstairs. The people behind me asked for seating for 3 and the other hostess asked if they had a reservation they said no. She told them to follow her upstairs to see if a table was available. Right after the hostess who greeted me came down with a surprised and said “oh I forgot all about you”. She goes upstairs and comes down and said the last table is gone. I told her what transpired and she flat out lied and said “they had a reservation”. I told her they didn’t because I heard them say they didn’t. Her reply was “their table was too big for only 2 people”. I told her if it could accommodate only 3 people than I’m sure It’d be fine for only 2. She then says well “I made a mistake and people make mistakes”. I kindly let her know that I’m not upset that she made a mistake but I have someone on there way and asked what she could do to mitigate the mistake. She said “I can’t promise anything but let me see”. She comes back a few minutes later tells me she has a table but there’s a reservation for it at 7. It was 6:05 and my guest was stuck in traffic and was 10 minutes out. I told her I’ll take it since my friend was in route. She then says “we might have to see what else we can do at 7”. At that point I chose to ignore her. The happy hour is only at the bar which is small. Would have been nice to include that on the online menu like most other locations but it was fine. I had the Chilean mule which was really good that’s why I’m not disappointed we have to give one star. My friend decided it was best to go elsewhere so I just met her at el Camino since it was in walking distance. They had good street tacos, great drinks and a really sweet bar tender. It was like a time warp but much needed after leaving this restaurant were I’m sure if I didn’t have a US Navy hoodie on but instead business attire I would’ve been accommodated differently. I took myself and my money elsewhere. Shouldn’t judge a book...
Read moreGet the tapas. The tapas were flavorful and very well done and came out piping hot very quickly. With our group of 7, we ordered about 25 plates ($12-18 each) of tapas — chicken skewers, goat cheese with tomato sauce, ahi tuna, and spicy potatoes were overall favorites. We ordered the lobster ravioli, and it was poorly done. The ravioli were the same size as an empanada and it just didn’t taste, good. Let’s leave that dish to the Italians. Aside from food, our server didn’t seem half attentive. We took our team out for a work dinner, and whist we are all in the service industry, we are always more than easy going. It was disappointing to have to ask 3 different people and our server twice for pita, water, and a plate. At the end, I went to go grab my own plates and the pita came well after we were finished with our meal. Gratuity is added to the tab, which doesn’t bother me normally, but there was also a $12 convenience fee for running our card. All in all, although the food was delicious, I did not feel like it was worth the 20% ($75) gratuity and $12 service fee when we never saw our server, only to order food. Another tables server attended to us much more than our...
