The ambiance was really neat and the drinks were fine. I would not recommend this restaurant, as the food was only mediocre at best and the service was honestly quite terrible all around.
Our waitress was clueless. Anytime we asked her a question about the menu (such as: what makes your “walrus fries” special?) we were answered with “its delicious”. I ordered the taco salad with tofu, but before I ordered I asked if the tofu was marinated. Her response was that it was marinated, and when I asked what type of marinade (to determine if it would go with the taco salad - I didn’t want an Asian marinade on a taco salad) all she could describe it as was “delicious”. She then clarified the type of salad dressing I wanted. It took close to 45 minutes for our 4 entrees to come out (2 burgers, a sandwich and my salad) and the fries for two of the entrees were stone cold and my salad came without dressing. We asked her to correct it, and she said she absolutely would and would be back with fresh fries and salad dressing. After 15 minutes went by with neither of these, I went to the kitchen myself for the salad dressing as I wasn’t going to eat without that, especially since the tofu that she said was marinated wasn’t marinated.
Her service did not speed up, nor did any staff member really seem to care that our table was abandoned. I ordered a second beer when she dropped off the fries and didn’t receive it until everyone was done with their meal (except for me, since I had my party start eating without me so the rest of their meal didn’t get cold while I waited for the salad dressing for my dry salad). It took another 20 minutes after I finished eating for us to flag down the waitress to get the check.
Edit: For full disclosure, upon receiving the response from the owner last week, I did reach out to the email provided to allow them the opportunity to learn more about my experience. It has been a week, and I have not had a response to my...
Read moreWe visited the Walrus after a trip to Otherworld. Being from out of town we wanted to try something that we don't have in our area. Someone suggested the Walrus so we decided to try it out. Almost immediately upon entering the building I was regretting my decision. The music was so loud that it was impossible to talk to the other 7 people at the table with me, the waitress seemed nice but I'm not really sure because I didn't hear a single word she said to me. The food took much longer than expected to arrive considering there were maybe 2 tables other than ours. The food itself wasn't bad, my burger was cooked perfectly and the fries are amazing! However, my friend ordered a Quesedilla with no beans, the waitress (because she couldn't hear over the super loud music) put it in as no meat. We let her know right away and since it took so long to get our food in the first place my friend said it was fine to just take it off of the bill. A guy came out to the table shortly after and asked what the problem was. My friend explained and told him she didn't want to make everyone wait on them to make her another meal. He said they would take it off the bill and give her 50% off of her daughter's meal and he also said that he would "get another one rushed right out to you babe" ugh. "Babe?" So cringey. After waiting about another half hour we realized that he wasn't rushing anything out to her so we asked for our bills so we could pay and get on the road. She didn't even receive a discount, they tool off her Quesedilla but still charged her for her drink. The worst part of the experience was definitely the loud music. That is why my friends order got messed up and also it prevented us from visiting during our meal. No way to talk over that racket. Maybe this place is more of a to-go type restaurant because the food was good. The...
Read moreI have to update because not much has changed. The Walrus will steal from you by tacking on fees and charges they did not indicate are included and then when you get your receipt on your card, it's not what you agreed to pay. I really tried to give them another try, but I work too hard to be stolen from by this establishment Every. Time. I. Go. There. I won't go back ever again. It's not like this area holds a lot of appeal any more.
It is truly the end of an era. I used to be a regular customer The Walrus and one of its most loyal. But the last time I went into there for brunch, I was stolen from. When my bill arrived, I tipped a little more than average, because like I said, I'm a loyal customer there. But when I looked at my credit card statement, the staff at The Walrus had decided to change the tip that I had added, made it more, and then charged my card for an amount that I did not agree to pay. I didn't know it was a thing for anybody to change the amount of tip that a customer left. But, trying to be the good customer that I am, I called The Walrus and attempted to have this taken care of. I was given a lot of lip service and promises of resolution, but eventually had to go to my bank in order to get this issue resolved. The result is I will never be going back to The Walrus and I don't know that you should be either. I have always been the type to go to a restaurant for decent food but excellent service, which is what The Walrus is. The food is okay but now I know that the staff is full of thieves. So, if you want to go there, I guess be my guest. But I would suggest bringing...
