This was my go to coffee shop for a couple of months until my more recent visit where it all went down hill. My boyfriend and I went to this location recently. To give background information, my boyfriend is allergic to most fruits. We went to order, and my boyfriend asked the cashier what fruits are in the pineapple tea. She stated that she was sure there was lemon in the tea, which was great because my boyfriend is not allergic to pineapple or lemon. I stated while we were ordering regarding him being allergic to some fruits. We pay, we wait for our order, and then the barista says “passion fruit tea for (insert boyfriend name)”. Him and I both looked at each other weirdly becuase we both know that’s not what he ordered. I ask the barista to remake his drink and stated he was allergic to passion fruit and if he wasn’t he would have drank the drink. My boyfriend and I really don’t like sending food back or asking people to remake our orders even if it’s wrong. The girl didn’t really say anything, but dumped out his drink, rinsed the cup, and went to use the same cup! I stated “he is allergic to passion fruit, can you please use a different cup.” She didn’t say anything to me and went and grabbed a different cup and remade his drink. We left and he did not take a drink of it until we got home where he then stated it didn’t taste like pineapple, so instead of risking it, we just threw it away.
I sent a message to the business regarding the issue where I did get a reply. The worker named Alice messaged me back and stated that the passion fruit tea did not have purée in it at all, which I found odd because it seemed like she was trying to hint that my boyfriend would have been fine drinking the incorrect order in the first place. She also said that the pineapple tea and passion fruit tea almost have the same labels for the orders and is the reason why it was misread and we were given the wrong drink. She then told me I never said he was allergic to passion fruit even though I stated it very loud and clear to the barista, which I am also wondering how she would know that unless she was the barista. Though when sending the email she did not word it like she was the barista. She then made the message sound like it was our fault that my boyfriend waited to take a drink from the cup until after we got home because I could have just asked for a refund. She continued to state that they take food allergies very seriously.
I just felt like the whole thing was handled very oddly and not the most professional way by their end. I also find it weird that they stated they take allergies very seriously, but did not when I literally stated several times my boyfriend’s allergy. Also, if you take allergies seriously, it would be good to consider not have one tea labeled PF and the other PTF because those can get very confusing with one another. Read moreCappuccino left a nasty aftertaste first of all. I definitely prefer Starbucks. I didn’t get my discount but didn’t argue because it was like a dollar off but still....it was just me and one other lady there so they weren’t busy but can’t remember my 20% discount? The lady that came in and ordered after me got her coffee first. Then they served my cappuccino to her! The employees weren’t the brightest bulbs on the Christmas tree. And I really wanted something to eat but good Lord, a slice of quiche is $7.25, a crossaint pre-made sandwich is $8.25. So disgustingly overpriced, it’s actually offensive.
UPDATE to owners response....I’m sorry but it sounds like you are implying I didn’t actually go there and purchase a cappuccino. How do you search transactions when I didn’t tell you what day I went? So just so you know it was on Monday July 16th 2018 around 11:30 or noon and it was a large cocoa cappuccino with whipped cream. $4.75 for the cap plus $.75 for the whip.
But you can keep your voucher. And no need to tell your staff because I won’t be back. Plus they would probably forget 5 seconds...
