Read moreNormally I really enjoyed my visits to this store, but that was until I had to return an item. I received a set as a gift from my father. He was told when purchasing the item that I can return it without the receipt for a credit or exchange it for another item. Seeing as how Im working on a particular collection, I decided to exchange the set for something I needed. I was told that no matter what, they could not even exchange the item without a receipt (even though I was returning a $150 set and purchasing a $300 set in its place, therefore creating a higher sale for them). After arguing what my father was told, I left the store without my exchange being honored. Upon calling LEGO customer service, I was told that yes indeed they should have honored my exchange since the item was under $200 AND the item being returned was a lego store exclusive item which they only sell directly from a Lego store. So now Im having to go through the hassle of returning the item directly to LEGO by mail to obtain a gift card from them to then turn around and order the item I originally wanted. Moral of this story? Rather than supporting this local store like I have for years and buying from them, I will in the future only order off line from LEGO or even Amazon. It seems to be a much more customer friendly...
Read moreIt’s always fun to go to the LEGO store and the employees are always very nice and helpful. That said, there are some pretty pointless and frustrating issues I’ve had to deal with. Last time I was in I wanted to buy two copies of the same small set. (A Star Wars battle pack.) It was only two hours until the store closed and the shelf was fully stocked with the product. I was told they were strictly limited to one per person on day one. I said I only wanted two and pointed out that their stock was nowhere near running out. The employees were very sympathetic and agreed with me before asking their manager and being told a strict “No”once again. When I got home to build the set, the end of the instructions literally tell you to buy two copies of the set to combine them.
I understand preventing scalpers from buying out 10+ copies of the same set, but preventing someone from buying only two copies of a set that is designed to be purchased more than once is ridiculous. This is just one example, there are several strange and frustrating practices that the LEGO store is very strict on. Also this store is very small and it gets claustrophobic...
