My husband and I, with a group of out of town friends, came here to enjoy dinner. The descriptions on the menu sounded great, but when the food arrived, it was a deconstructed mess of ingredients. Their menu palette is mostly vinegar based, which makes sense for a brewery.
Although some of the dishes were beautifully presented, the portion sizes were small. Very small. My husband and I had the Peas for an appetizer for $12; it was literally a can of peas topped with some grated parmesan, served cold, and 6-8 crostini. My husband's lamb was cooked nicely, but my curry cauliflower had more stem than actual cauliflower. It was pretty bland, I honestly could not taste the curry, and, all in all, I probably only got about 8-9 cauliflower bunches.
Our friends bratwurst plates were a total joke tho. It was a piece of bratwurst with condiments individually circled around a piece of circular bread. I was initially excited bc I thought it was a pate, nope just more hard, crunchy bread. It was also not cheap.
Also, Wolf's Ridge, relying on such crunchy bread as a palette cleanser means that it is very, very, very difficult to talk with the people you are with. There were a lot of awkward conversation pauses as we were quickly trying to chew the bread
I opted for dessert and my cheesecake was 1 tiny spoon scoop of sherbert, with a tube of cream cheese (maybe 3 oz?) on top of some breadcrumbs. The fudge cake was also a small scoop of fudge ice cream and a three layer square piece of cake. I much preferred the cake to the cheesecake. But, both pieces should definitely be considered a "taste."
We had 7 people in our party and was auto added gratuity to our bill. I do not usually mind this, but there was no forewarning and, the thing that irks me most, especially as a waitress, is that it charged gratuity on tax as well. Ugh. However, our waitress and the server assistants were fine although not very personable, but were quick to remove excess plates, refill drinks, and place orders.
The beer was excellent, the flights a reasonable price, and the selection was wonderful. Just go to drink, do not waste your money on the dinner. We had been there for brunch and had a fantastic time, but the dinner was underwhelming and overpriced.
After my husband and I left with a $130 bill, we had to go somewhere else to grab some food. It kinda put a sour note on our night. Everyone did bond over the forgetable experience though. Thanks?
This kind of charge at Lindey's or Tuccis or Skillet would have been worth it because we would get such a satisfactory meal. Wolf's Ridge really was not worth it. Probably will not be coming back.
