Our recent visit to Desi District in Concord left us with mixed impressions, highlighting both its strengths and areas where it could improve.
Let's start with the positives.
The Chicken Momo was a definite standout, truly delicious with a wonderful flavor profile and a satisfying portion size. It's an item we'd highly recommend and would happily order again. The Shrimp Biryani also hit the mark; it was well-prepared and enjoyable.
Beyond the food, the ambience of Desi District is quite appealing. The decor features lively and interesting graphics, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that contributes positively to the dining experience. We also found the service to be attentive and good, with staff members being helpful and friendly throughout our visit.
However, there was a noticeable dip in quality with one of our main dishes. The Chicken Chettinad Biryani, which was highlighted as a special for the day, unfortunately fell flat. It was notably under-seasoned, particularly lacking in salt, which resulted in a dish that tasted bland and didn't live up to the rich flavors we'd expect from a Chettinad preparation. This inconsistency in taste was a bit disappointing, especially given the promise shown by the other dishes.
Overall, Desi District in Concord certainly has a lot of potential. The excellent momos, enjoyable shrimp biryani, and pleasant atmosphere are strong assets.
To truly shine, however, they will need to address the consistency in their biryani preparations, ensuring that every dish meets a high standard of flavor and seasoning. With a bit of refinement in the kitchen, Desi District could easily become a top choice for Indian cuisine...
Read moreDisappointed with Desi District Concord – Not Worth the Hype or the Price Visited on August 3rd and left incredibly disappointed. I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and Spicy Chilli Gobi, expecting flavorful, balanced Indian cuisine. What I received was a far cry from it.
Paneer Tikka Masala came smothered in what seemed like a butter masala gravy, overly sweetened and unnecessarily greasy. It lacked the depth and spice one would expect from this classic North Indian dish. It honestly felt like it had been "Americanized" beyond recognition—like someone unfamiliar with Indian cuisine had made it.
Then came the Spicy Chilli Gobi, which was neither spicy nor did it seem to contain any real chilli flavor. It was swimming in an overly sugary sauce—again, way off-mark. I sent it back, politely explaining the issue, only to have it returned with more chilli powder thrown in, as if that solved the problem. It didn’t. It was just poor execution and worse customer responsiveness.
The experience felt like a mismatch of flavors, careless preparation, and no respect for authenticity or customer feedback. For the price they’re charging, I expected way better quality and professionalism.
For comparison, the Desi District in Pineville is far superior—better taste, better execution, better value.
To the management: You seriously need to re-evaluate your kitchen team and quality standards. Word spreads quickly, and if this continues, you’ll find the place empty sooner...
Read moreSelf service right from entering the door - order yourself, find your own seat, get your plates/spoons, clean the table yourself unless you call someone to do it. Like many recent reviews, dining table was very sticky and the place is not cleaned regularly-food on tables, floor, roaches running on the seat. Had to call the cleaning person ourselves even after informing the front desk. Order name is announced on a microphone which was loud and annoying-why not give a placard and serve the food to the customer at their table. Also, food comes in batches and your name will be called out 3-4 times. Coming to food, it was very mediocre. The veg Manchurian momos were sour but kids liked hence overall 2 stars. The chicken dum biryani had no flavor at all since we were served just the top layer of rice without any of the masala which gives flavor. It was literally white and yellow rice with 2 pieces of chicken. The chicken pulao smelled and tasted weird, couldn't eat it. Dine in food is served in plastic to go containers and so are the plates and spoons/forks. Feels like a fast-food joint. Overall, the cleanliness of this place is very bad and needs immediate attention. Food quality has to be improved soon. The place is new and has lots of potential which can turn into a good dining experience if the management uses customers feedback to make some much...
