If I were to just rate the food, it would be 5 stars. However, my overall experience at the restaurant is about 2 stars. When dining in at restaurants, customer service and the staff help create the dining experience, which wasn't so great for me. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros: Food is delicious and authentic.
Cons: Customer service is horrible. This is my second time being here and both times I've had the same waiter. Horrible experience with this waiter both times. I regret I didn't get his name. He didn't check in at my table AT ALL. The only time he was attentive was when he gave us the check. It was like all he wanted was our money. I asked for straws and to-go boxes but my waiter would go help someone else first and then ultimately forget my request, so I'd have to ask again. Then it would take forever, so I'd ask another staff member and they'd get it right away. Wait times are long. The restaurant hasn't been that busy when I dined in during dinner. However, it seems like the wait times are ridiculous (the time it takes from ordering food to receiving food). Non-equal treatment of all customers. Yes, this is an Indian restaurant which will likely attract customers of Indian descent. However, it would be nice if staff treated all customers equally. I feel like this one waiter I've had both times ruined the experience for me as I felt neglected compared to his customers of Indian descent. This is evidenced by a) not checking in at my table at all until the check is ready b) not filling up water unless I flag you down c) not carrying out requests in a timely manner. Food is a little pricey for the portion size
Overall, I will most likely not dine in here again due to the unpleasant experiences I had. However, I do see myself ordering take out in the future because the food remains delectable...
Read moreI don’t have any complaints. The service was great, very attentive staff, and polite. They seemed to actually care that we enjoyed our food and experience.
We started with an appetizer, I forgot what it’s called but it’s a spicy paneer dish with onion and peppers and other garnishes. That blew my mind I’m like wow this is better than tofu, I could go for this as a meat substitute.
We then had the chicken biryani, and that was delicious. We also had the lamb vindaloo with garlic naan, and I was highly impressed. It was my first time trying that (I usually get something typical like tikka masala) but I was happy with my choice. It had a nice spice to it, even though I got mild, so I’m looking forward to trying spicy next time.
We ordered drinks, and those did not disappoint either. Moscow mules had great flavor and presentation. We even tried a desert, forgot what it’s called, but it was these white balls in some sweet sauce, it was a pistachio-y coconut-y flavor. The first time they brought it out it was too sweet, so when they came and asked us if we liked it, we honestly said no, but they brought out another, and it was actually better (less sweet), so I ate that no problem.
The atmosphere was nice. It had cool colorful decorations and lighting on the ceiling. Wasn’t too bright, or too dark. Bollywood music videos playing on a big screen that kept us even more entertained. I remember looking up wanting more napkins and as soon as I looked up, I caught eye contact with a staff member who was scanning the room, ready to help whomever may need the help, so that just shows they were paying attention. It’s obviously not the largest, fanciest place, but I had my little booth by the door and I was...
Read moreI usually order online and first time when I ordered, the Veg Biryani was watery and masala was not tasty. But later ordered another couple of times and the food was OK.
Update: I was in the restaurant here today to update my review. I ordered an Uthappam and it never came. Waited for almost an hour and left. There are a bunch of service staff and at least NONE of THEM bothered to check again. After me there were couple of Americans that came to the restaurant and the management and staff were so keen on taking the orders and serving them. I felt like that I came here to eat free food and so they are delaying. Customers look for good service as much as they look for good food. Please learn that first before running a restaurant. So I updated my rating from 3 star to 0 star but it will show as 1 star. I wish reviews in the future has a 0 star feature.
Update 2 : See the owner's reply to my review. What a shameful of a man he is. Face palm moment. This is what I am actually talking about in my review. No respect to the customers at all. I hope people see my review before going to such a restaurant with poor service. Instead of your aggressive reply to all the negative reviews you get, first provide some good service to your customers.
BTW, I did not change the actual context of the review but just updated it as google added more features in their beta version like type of delivery, meal, cost etc., I just used them for better understanding of the future review readers. Anyone wanting to try Indian restaurant, I suggest to watch out for this guy.
Finally, if anyone thinks my review is fake I would honestly suggest to read some other reviews and make an...
