Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Concord

This is a very poor example of Golden Corral. Golden Corrals are large buildings with a wide variety of food, which this is neither. I mean no offense to the staff, but the food options are poor and seating is limited due to the size of this location.

This building seems to have been a Hometown buffet or some other smaller buffet that was bought by a Golden Corral franchisee whom doesn't actually care about fitting the Golden Corral narrative. The food quality is lower than other Golden Corral locations as well; very sub-par food.

The food options were the basic salad bar, fried chicken, spaghetti, white rice, wings, soups, dinner rolls, ham, pot roast, mashed potatoes, canned corn, pizza, chocolate cake, carrot cake, bananna pudding, ice cream, overcooked cookies, apple pie, cherry pie. Though this does sound like a lot, it is nothing every other buffet has. It's missing the normal things that make Golden Corral different and BIG, chinese food, the chocolate fountain (chocolate skewers), multiple rice dishes, pasta bake, actual fried shrimp (not those cheap popcorn shrimp for kids), fried fish, baked fish, corn pudding, pot pie or dumplings, mac & cheese, scalloped potatoes, stuffing, croutons (I mean come on), cupcakes, brownies, ect.

Basically, you aren't getting what you paid for. I spent nearly $50 on two people for a buffet I could have gotten for $30 for two people. If this Golden Corral location wants to offer only half of the Golden Corral foods, then they should only make you pay...

The food was delicious and the tables are nice and clean. Updated restaurant ambiance and nicely lit. Felix was our waiter and he was absolutely fantastic! He even had a little speaker with Christmas music that my son and I loved! It made it feel inviting and personable. He had a bright and cheerful attitude even though he was waiting on so many tables with only one other server. I watched him greet everyone that came in and sat down. He didn’t rush through so he could move on to the next. He actually cared and took the extra minute to introduce himself and make sure everyone had what they needed. My kind of waiter!! I would have gave the restaurant 5 stars but my 4 stars is for the following reasons. At the salad bar they did not have beets not a big deal but a little disappointed. I didn’t see any cornbread which is such a staple for my kids and I with some butter and honey so again not a big deal but just a little disappointed. Then the hot fudge machine was out of fudge and that was sad as I love the hot fudge Sunday I look forward to making after I’ve had my fill of dinner. The worst of it though was the restrooms. My son said the boy’s bathroom was stinky and unkept. I too visited the restroom and it was also stinky and unkept. The lid to the toilet seat was also flimsy and slid when I sat down. I’ve eaten here 10+ times now. The food is often hot. The dessert selection is plenty. There’s someone from the staff always wiping up the counters where you get your food so it looks presentable.

Whenever food is getting low like mac and cheese, they have a new tray ready to refill.

The steak is 1/5 stars don’t even bother with it unfortunately. It’s pretty bad, been disappointed with it multiple times. It has the grill taste but it chews like rubber.

Salad selection is great. Wide variety of options for the price.

You can choose to eat healthy with a lot of salad, baked, and stir fried selections, or you can pig out and eat everything they have like their delicious fried chicken, mac and cheese is good, their dinner rolls are good, and the bread pudding they make with their dinner rolls is also pretty good. And their corn bread, don’t sleep on their corn bread either.

The staff is super nice at this location, always attentive and hopeful.
